Where to stay near Coventry?

Inspired by the ‘undesirable holidays’ thread - does anyone have any tips on where we could stay in / near Coventry? My DP’s family are there and when lockdown is lifted we will go and see them (us and our preschooler/toddler DC) - we will need to book accommodation as are too far away to do a day trip but if we have to pay for accommodation, I’d rather it felt like more of a holiday IYSWIM.

We used to live closer but moved just before lockdown so are now about a 3 hour drive so this has never come up as would previously go there and back in a day.

Are there any hidden gems in close proximity or am I kidding myself?

Or a country hotel with a pool -Brandon Hall

Warwick, Stratford and Leamington are all nice enough.

But if you time your visit for City of Culture events then Coventry is probably the most interesting. Lots of new stuff going on.

Henley in Arden is fabulous and not too far. There are some lovely holiday cottages there - google "Hidden in Warwickshire"
