The BBC have been overwhelmed with complaints about coverage of Prince Philip

Showing the same thing on 2 channels simultaneously.

Now you just enter your email to complain as they couldn’t cope with the amount of complaints.

You're right. If only there was a multitude of channels, radio stations, on demand services, media outlets, and a life beyond the telly. Oh wait...

Yes quite Grin I think there’s a mentality of I don’t like this so it shouldn’t be on, well lots of people do like it and do want to watch. I generally dislike most sport, if the 6 nations or World Cup is on, I understand there are people that do like it and I just do or watch something else. Grin

So you need it broadcast simultaneously?

You could watch it on one channel and that would do wouldn’t it?

The90swereadecadeago · 12/04/2021 19:36

Two channels out of how many? I mean, put it on all of them I don’t care I’ll watch, or do something else. That’s just how news is, it’s newsworthy. Phillip was, in everything but name, the King (he couldn’t be called as such because King outranks Queen or some such outdated nonsense) but his death is a big story. You might want to get another hobby for when the Queen dies.

You can watch programmes in PP to your hearts content.

I don’t really care but the extent isn’t necessary. You don’t get more out of it because it’s on two channels at the same time do you?

MarshaBradyo · 12/04/2021 19:39

When the Queen dies some will be staring at all the channels dedicated to it plus sad music simultaneously I’m sure.

I don’t doubt that 🤣 I’ll probably watch a little, feel a bit sad as it’s the end of an era... and then start thinking weird things like, the new money and stamps and the anthem changing to God Save the King. 🤓

MarshaBradyo · 12/04/2021 19:45

Actually that is quite interesting and very expensive, an article below outlined all the items including hats and post boxes etc

Going to cost a fortune

Porcupineintherough · 12/04/2021 19:48

When the queen dies... let's hope the BBC does a bit of rescheduling and devotes BBC 1 plus 1 radio station to high quality coverage about her life and legacy and offers alternative viewing on other channels.

HeddaGarbled · 12/04/2021 20:01

I doubt there’ll be a publicly funded BBC by then so it’ll probably be crap and adverts. Enjoy.

Why?

You said this before but didn’t see response to a couple of posts on it

HeddaGarbled · 12/04/2021 20:08

Because this government doesn’t like the BBC and wants to defund them, so, along with The Daily Mail et al, are stoking opposition to the licence fee. These knee-jerk complaints, which do not consider the difficult circumstances that the BBC are operating under, are playing into their hands.

I’ve also read posts that it was to appease Tory back benchers

I doubt they’ll care about complaints

MarshaBradyo · 12/04/2021 20:13

Plus if the BBC actually listened to feedback then like any publicly funded service that adapts with the times they’d be better off.

Better to do that than what posters here are going on about - ignoring it all.

KeflavikAirport · 12/04/2021 21:42

Apparently the coverage earned the bBC the most complaints it’s ever had.

ohforarainyday · 12/04/2021 21:43

Philip was not, by any stretch of the imagination, the King.

The King means the Monarch, which means the Ruler of the country.

Philip was a consort. Nothing more, nothing less. He did great things within his role as consort, but being the romantic partner of a leader is a very different thing from being the leader.

ineedaholidaynow · 12/04/2021 21:55

But it was only about 100,000 so not all BBC viewers, not the majority of the population

QueenOfPain · 12/04/2021 21:59

I’d much rather watch a continuous feed of individual two minute tributes to every single person in the UK who has lost their life to covid this last year.

Prince Phillip is of absolutely no interest to me, normal every day humans are.

Roussette · 12/04/2021 22:01

They took down the complaints page fairly soon after it got swamped. So that figure is not a true figure, we'll never know, I don't think

Mysterian · 12/04/2021 22:25

They only took down the dedicated complaints page down. You could always use the regular one.

Could I just state that when I die I want no more than one BBC channel paying tribute to me. Thank you.

Roussette · 12/04/2021 22:33

🤣😂

Peregrina · 12/04/2021 22:41

The politician Shirley Williams has just died. One of the original Gang of Four who split from the Labour Party to become the SDP, which later joined with the Liberals to form the Lib Dems. But may in turn have forced the old Labour to re-examine itself and become New Labour and get elected for 13 years.

I would say that is quite important for UK history, so can we expect all the BBC channels to wipe their schedules to give us obituaries of her on repeat? Grin

LaylaRawlings · 12/04/2021 22:43

Rainy good to read your posts. Nice to have insight more than can’t you plebs last without it for a day.

Translation: I like that you agree with me, anyone who doesn't is a pleb 🤣

HarebrightCedarmoon · 12/04/2021 22:46

Watch something else? Sure, I'll just stage my own version of Masterchef in my kitchen and make up the result Hmm
