unconventional wedding dress ideas?

I'm scrapping the traditional white dress and looking for a midi length summer dress, not too formal like I'm going to a ball nor too casual like a floral summer holiday dress.

Looking for elegant, (probably one tone) dress, no sequins etc (I think)

Any suggestions from the hive mind?

..Just to add, its a very small gathering (10 people). No bridesmaids.. any dresses I have found that I vaguely like look too bridesmaidy to be a wedding dress! Help please :)

Have you looked on BHLDN? Some stunning yet simple dresses in the bride, bridesmaid and also 'occasions' sections in a variety of colours.
Congratulations

Tricky without knowing your style. Long sleeved/short sleeved? High neck/low neck? Preferred colours?

I love this, and think it’s very elegant, but may be way off the mark.

@VenusClapTrap I quite like this style: www.johnlewis.com/chi-chi-london-curve-simona-dress-teal/p4831085

Happy to pay a lot more than that though and I am not plus size. This sort of thing, fit and flare in a paler colour and size 8-10 is what I'm after I think

@Howmanysleepsnow that is lovely! My google searches have taken me to JJHouse a lot (never heard of it, don't love the fact that its not UK based and they tailor make it etc, don't want to have somehting custom made, for it to take forever to arrive and then for me not to like it!) Too risky. Wedding is in no time too, life has been chaotic so not had a chance to plan. As its such a simple affair (may have a bigger celebration down the line when COVID etc poses no restriction)

I have been to two wedding where the brides wore Ted Baker dresses. They were smashing.

Needle & Thread do gorgeous dresses, and they have quite a few in a midi length eg:

Because you like Chi Chi London dresses, I'd recommend having a look at the Nancy Mac website.

Rixo dresses are totally beautiful and would be special enough for a bride imo. Ted Baker dresses are a bit basic, sorry!

Worth looking at bridesmaid dresses - I wore a calf-length blue bridesmaid dress as I had no adult attendents, I discovered at uni formal events that I couldn't move well in full-length dresses, and white doesn't suit me.
