Just fell down the stairs!

I feel so stupid, a toy was left on the top stair and I've just stepped on it and slid, caught myself on the bannister with my hand so I slid down on my back and didn't topple over, I went down the whole set of stairs and I am in so much pain!

The inside of my arm feels like it's on fire, my lower back is killing and I've broke 3 nails.

Should I get some ice on it? I haven't fallen in years and I'm pretty shook up by it.

Good to hear that you are feeling a bit better. Look after yourself and take it as easy as you can this week Flowers

I haven't taken down stairs in a while but I remember it well - it's a real shock to be doing one thing calmly and then suddenly to be thrown into chaos and pain. Hope your bruises heal quickly.

AlohaMolly · 11/04/2021 14:38

Oh OP I dislocated my knee two weeks ago just standing in the kitchen! Fell over, knocked it back in then fainted from the pain. My leg was sore but the worst big was the shock. How old are your DC? Can they look after you and themselves for the rest of the day?

DartmoorChef · 11/04/2021 14:42

Ouch poor you.

I did exactly the same a few years ago including catching my nails on the bannister as I grabbed it. I had acrylic nails which ripped up and took my own nails with them. It was utter agony and I lost the nails a couple of weeks later.

I hope you are feeling better today.

LittlestBoho · 11/04/2021 16:21

Ouch! It sounds very painful. My friend broke her tailbone falling down the stairs, she couldn't sit properly for ages.

Tangledtresses · 11/04/2021 16:28

Omg god is that you O? I woke up this morning to a broken top banister 🤷🏼‍♀️ no one knows how it happened

dontgobaconmyheart · 11/04/2021 16:32

Sounds awful OP, hope you heal fast.

I'd sit down for half an hour with a hot sweet drink until the shock has passed , then get up and properly (and gently) assess if you think anything needs looking at by a doctor, is swollen or with limited movement etc clean up the nails and anall cuts etc and take it easy Flowers

Sympathy. I fell top to bottom, landing on my bottom. Oh my tailbone. The pain, for weeks.

Em3978 · 11/04/2021 16:49

I remember doing the stairs on my bum... ohh the pain.
Turned out I'd broken my coccyx on the way down. The pain lasted for years and still flairs now, nearly 20 years later. Please get checked out!

orangejuicer · 11/04/2021 17:31

How are you feeling OP?

DioneTheDiabolist · 11/04/2021 17:35

Glad you're ok OP.Smile

BashfulClam · 11/04/2021 18:28

Aaw that’s awful. I went over on my ankle at the top of the stairs a few years ago. Tried to grab the bannister and rattled my arm off it but my knees took the full force and still aren’t 100%

Roselilly36 · 11/04/2021 18:45

@mooonstone has it right, I had a fall recently, been on ibuprofen for pain and arnica ointment for the bruising, it does help. Hope you feel better soon OP.
