When to chase job application?

I applied for my dream job on Tuesday. On Wednesday the recruiter phoned and we had a really good chat about the role. He said he was sure the company would be interested and he would call to arrange my interview once they had reviewed my CV. How long would you give it before asking for an update? Or would you assume as I still haven't heard anything they aren't interested? I know it's only been a few days but I think it being the perfect job/ company is making me crazy!

I think I would give the recruiter a call on Monday to casually enquire.

When was the closing date? My company doesn't even look at applications until that date has passed.

It is so frustrating, I had a call on Tuesday from an employer who said I'll be in touch regards arranging an interview ..... Not heard anything since. Why do they build your hopes up!! 😬

I hope you hear soon @doitwithlove the not knowing is horrible! Start date was supposed to be ASAP.

Honestly at @Chickandlamb it really messes my head up, especially when you know you are very suitable for the role. Give the agency a call this afternoon, otherwise you will be pondering all weekend. The person overseeing CV's could be on leave etc.

I am waiting to hear on an earlier interview I had today - it is painful waiting when you have given it your best shot 😠

I have been verbally offered a job but have been waiting for the offer letter for a few weeks now. They were also very slow with inviting me for an interview. They extended the application date (after I applied) and it was 2 months before I was invited to the interview. I wonder if this is because employers don't interview until they have reached a set number of applicants?

A lot of people are on leave this week so that’s probably why you haven’t heard yet

DH used to call recruiters every 3 days post application. Worked for him.

I called the recruiter and they will try and update me in the next week or so. As the job was to start ASAP I don't think it looks good. Oh well. Hope everyone else's job hunting is going better than mine.
