Invisalign - did it affect your teeth badly?

I'm seriously considering investing in Invisalign but I've read scary things about teeth being damaged (I suppose it's a pretty fast, intense process). I am a very nervous patient and have had lots of problems with my teeth, which have been stable for years now. I don't want to mess that up! I'd need the full treatment and have been told it'd take about 9 months. But I'm really put off by the idea of my teeth being destroyed/dying. Tia!
