18th Birthday Ideas during lockdown

DS is going to be 18 on Sunday. Obviously, we’ll still be in lockdown, so I was wondering if anyone had any nice ideas to make his birthday fun/special.

I feel sad that we can’t go out for a nice meal or have people over. The weather forecast isn’t great for Sunday either at the moment, so unsure about asking a few people into the garden.

Any ideas of fun gifts or things to do would be appreciated.

Hello! My husband had his 30th recently and these are the things I did to try and make it special - ordered some big 30 balloons, ordered a special box of donuts which were all decorated with his favourite sweets/ chocolates, got all his friends and family to send me a video birthday message and then put it together in one big video, we did a virtual horse racing night which you can find on the Macmillan website for one of our zooms with friends (there’s also options for a quiz, murder mystery or escape room). I also invited a goat to our zoom meeting which is very random but we found hilarious, obviously not everyone would enjoy that! Xx

Depends on your son but most 18 year olds just want little fuss, decent presents and nice food. Over indulge on the food - order in his takeaway of choice, let him pick the film, get popcorn, crisps, sweets, chocolate. Nice beers or his drink of choice.

My cousin hired one of these for her daughter's birthday and a dominoes and she loved it!

Thank you so much for these ideas. My son is pretty low key, and we’re mostly giving him money, but I feel like I want to do something nice for him. A takeaway of his choice is a must!

How about a pub crawl? Well OK, room crawl. You could have different drinks/food/activities in each room? Maybe one is a zoom call with his mates, another is a silly game etc.

Hire a hot tub. Brilliant fun. The weather doesn’t matter, in fact the colder the better.
