C&G lumpy milk

Can anyone shed any light on this please?
We've used C&G formula since my DD was born (she's 3 months now) and never had any problems with the formula using the prep machine. These last few days it's been really lumpy and almost impossible to get the lumps out even with vigorous shaking and then we're left with a bottle full of bubbles that don't go away. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced similar problems and if so how did you stop it happening?
We thought the formula might have been a dodgy batch so used a new one and that's still the same Confused just seems strange it's been fine all these weeks and only just happening now.

Could you try using kettle water only to see if a larger amount of hot water (over 70 degrees) dissolves the powder better ?

amiahoarder · 07/04/2021 10:28

Sorry, to clarify I meant make up the powder using the kettle not using the machine.

We used to put the number on for example 8oz but stop at 7 so would have had a longer 'hot shot' but it's still a good temp for baby. Obviously check for your little one but our ds loved it warmer.
Then your still doing 7 scoops to 7 water. It's just warmer.

Thank you I will try both I think she will drink milk at any temperature (she'll drink it cold so I'm assuming she won't mind it a bit warmer either)
@amiahoarder this might be a daft question but do you put the milk in after the 8oz hot shot then put it back under and just take the bottle away when it reaches 7oz? I'm easily confused Grin

I use c&g with a perfect prep machine and haven't had any issues with lumps, its quite bubbly though but i think they all do that! A 7oz bottle has an extra 2oz of bubbles so it goes up to the 9oz marking. Aptamil was ridiculously bubbly for the short amount of time i used it.
I put formula in before the hot shot, i think the machines instructions tells you to do it the other way round though.

Snausageandmash · 07/04/2021 11:32

@Isababybel I've been doing the same, putting the powder in first then the hot shot but my husband does it the other way round. Do you shake it vigorously when you've put the hot shot in or just after topping up? I used to be able to just swish it from side to side and the whole lot would dissolve just by doing that after the hot shot and would only need gentle tipping once topped up but now it's started to stick to the bottom of the bottle in big clumps.

We put water 1st. So on 8 setting but stop it when it's at 7. Add 7 scoops.
As the 8 setting would have more of a hot shot. X

@BluntlySpoken ahh I see Smile that makes sense. Thank you I'll give it a go
