Contact triage xxx

Call the hospital. At this stage of pregnancy they will want to see you as soon as possible. Congratulations x

I had by baby 5 weeks ago. My waters broke in the middle of the night too and I was in full blown labour by the morning. It was a lot of fluid that came out although you should be able to tell the difference between urine and fluid. Fluid is is clear and odourless. Your waters will continue to leak although to a lesser degree to when they broke so pop a pad on and continue to monitor. Although if I was you I would just phone them, please don't feel silly, it's what they're there for and you definitely aren't the first person to not be sure if they've broke or not. xx
emilyfrost · 07/04/2021 03:23

It’s better to feel silly and be safe than something have gone wrong. They’d always rather you call and it be a false alarm.

stairway · 07/04/2021 03:28

You don’t need to them what you were doing when it happened. They can scan swab you to tell if it is amniotic fluid or not.

Kerry00 · 07/04/2021 03:33

I live so far away from hospital and would have to organise a lift not sure what to do to wait for a while to see if any more leaks out

What was your plan for getting to the hospital?

Do you know any of your neighbours? I'd happily do a hospital trip for you!

You should ring them for a chat anyway.

Nothing to be embarrassed about.

@stairway. Maternity unit is the last place you need to be embarrassed about saying you had had sex. 🤣

Mumdiva99 · 07/04/2021 03:56

Definitely pop a pad in. Call them....if not now then first thing.

cunexttime · 07/04/2021 03:57

Phone the hospital, see what they say. Then worry about the lift. You can't be too careful and if you do need to call a friend to get a lift there's really no better excuse for waking someone up in the middle of the night.

Bananacocks · 07/04/2021 03:57

Ring the maternity unit, they will have seen it all before, and if it's not your waters there is no need to be embarrassed it happens all the time.

Silkiescat · 07/04/2021 04:18

I would phone - my waters went at 36 weeks all in one go, it was clear, odourless and like a bath oil. They then waited until I was 37 weeks exactly and induced me and kept me in until then but I was 36 weeks 4 days so closer. I lost my mucus plug too, that you couldn't miss, was huge.

Kerry00 · 07/04/2021 04:35

Did your contractions start soon after your water went ? I assume you didn’t continue to leak either as it went completely

OP posts:
emilyfrost · 07/04/2021 04:41

You really need to ring the hospital. It doesn’t matter what happened to anyone else.

Silkiescat · 07/04/2021 04:54

Mine was 15 years ago now but from what I remember I had no real contractions at the time, I was in the middle of a dinner party Blush - I wasn't in any pain just had soaked trousers and a massive mucus plug then came out. I would call hospital as they will want to check you over and they got very bothered about infections, kept taking temperature etc. Different people have things happen in different orders. With my seconds waters broke at start then had lots of contractions straight away but that was at 39 weeks.

Ilovechoc12 · 07/04/2021 04:57

Ring the hospital...., it’s really important they check you .....

When my waters went it took 2 full days to contract and only back pain then induced (prem baby)

Good luck xxxx

Silkiescat · 07/04/2021 05:03

Yes with my first I definitely didn't have any contractions thinking about it. Waters broke at 36 weeks 4 days called hospital said come in asap then lost mucus plug went to hospital. They kept me in monitoring for infections until 37 weeks 0 days. 37 weeks put pessary to induce. Still no contactions at all. Then a drip to induce. That started contractions.

Any chance your waters have gone you need to phone and get checked out asap.

Silkiescat · 07/04/2021 05:09

And don't worry about it not being your waters, they are very used to dealing with all kind of substances coming out of pregnant women but they will want to check you.

Not sure if they will keep you in, in my day they would induce at 37 weeks but don't know if they still do that. Hope it all goes well.

RisingSunn · 07/04/2021 05:12

As others have said, pls call maternity triage. Especially as you say are only 35 weeks gone. All the best!

Cakeonthefloor · 07/04/2021 06:45

When my waters went i had no contractions but I did keep leaking water. There is a high risk of infection if they have gone so you do need to check.

Crunchymum · 07/04/2021 06:53

Have you contacted your hospital.

If it was your waters breaking / leaking then you become at risk of infection if labour doesn't begin within a certain time frame (at least this was the advice when I was pregnant a few years back!)
