Does this need GP again?

Sorry; not first thread on topic . Not trolling, trust me, I’ve better things to do but don’t know who else to ask for advice anonymously so to speak .

Diagnosed a week ago with vaginitis, cervicitis and a UTI following three weeks of bleeding, itching and pain . Did a self swab at home - I haven’t been seen by anyone or even talked to a doctor or nurse, it’s all been done via receptionist acting as the middle man .

Given antibiotics, a steroid cream and balanceactiv gel .

I’ve been OK all weekend and then sore again today . Tried to use the gel tonight, I’m bleeding again and very sore internally.

I don’t think it’s a period as I’m only bleeding when trying to use the gel or when using the loo .

I have history, so probably should phone GP, however this has brought up memories of sexual abuse and other trauma which I’m shattered by and struggling to cope with . GP isn’t aware of this .

I’ve got a hospital review for related condition on Friday, they are also totally unaware .

What do I do? Ignore and hope it’s actually a period? Phone GP and explain I’m scared but need advice? I’m starting to think someone does need to get eyes on the problem so to speak .

First of all, I am sorry to hear you are sore and unwell OP.

Please seek medical help. If you think you can hold out until your appointment for your related issue then do, but please do not be afraid to self refer to a GUM or Sexual Health Centre. You'll be seen by a specialist nurse or doc (and this is literally their area of specialty) who will be best placed to advise on treatment and a plan of action.

Any unexplained vaginal bleed MUST be investigated.
I'm really sorry if that is difficult for you but you really can't leave it.

Please do not ignore the problem. Try to call and speak with them or would it be easier for you to write/email? I’m sure you wouldn’t be the first with a history of abuse but you need to do what makes you as comfortable as you can be in this situation whilst being treated.

I’ve got an appt at 9 anyway tomorrow for bloods and stuff so could ask then . Just terrified they’ll want to examine me and I only trust one GP, who’s off on holiday until next week, I’d be scared to let the others try .

I had a normal smear under sedation last year (they know I have vaginismus but don’t know why) .

It’s maybe just spotting or something, hopefully, but it’s painful in there and doesnt seem right .

Have to do same swab again and see what’s going on; trusted GP phoning weeks time to discuss whether I need to be seen face to face or if they can just treat based off swabs . Said last swab showed mixed anaerobic bacteria growth which I don’t fully understand but said it isn’t unusual . They think the bleeding might be some sort of abrasion somewhere . Not easy but nurse was lovely and said in the event I need seen face to face I’d be allowed a friend/relative to come in with me.
