Where to Live?!

Hi all, probably looking for the impossible but date to dream eh?!

We are looking to buy a house, currently live in a 4 bed new build with en suite and dressing room to master bedroom which we love but it's very top heavy and very little living space. We have a kitchen and one decent sized room downstairs but with two children it's cramped and we hate it so want somewhere with more downstairs space.

We also need to be able to commute into London Liverpool Street, Euston, Farringdon or kings cross. Problem we've found with so many commuter towns is that they go to Paddington or Marylebone which are then two tube rides away from DHs job which adds so much onto his commute.

Town we are in now has a 40 minute train into kings cross which is great and we live a 3 minute walk from station so his current commute is less than an hour door to door. We don't want to add much to this or add another element like tube or driving to a station or switching trains mid way as you're then adding a lot of stress and time on and we have two young children he'd like to see occasionally!

So the dream is a big ish house - 4 beds as we need an office for my job and a lot of downstairs space. A garage or drive as we used to live somewhere with street parking and it was hell. A garden and a nice villagey feel. Good schools as our oldest starts primary this September. Good cafes or shops. Ideally like to be within an hour of family who are scattered around Buckinghamshire but not a big sticking point as happy to travel. Budget is about £450,000.

Any ideas?!

It might be worth looking around Kettering, Corby or Market Harborough?
