What is the Bold Type like?

pastabest · 05/04/2021 20:44

Have you seen The Marvellous Mrs Maisel?

GreenSlide · 05/04/2021 20:52

Not sure if you have Netflix but I enjoyed Medici Masters of Florence. The Bourgeois is good too.

SuddenArborealStop · 05/04/2021 20:57

Hindsight is sooooo good, devo it's only one season

weareallpassengers · 05/04/2021 20:57

I don't have netflux at the moment. I shall look at all the recommendations

@Unreasonabubble The Bold Type is trashy, uplifting, non thinking, three typical 20 something year olds working in a fashion magazine in NY. the 3 come from very different backgrounds and it does touch on quite a few 'hot topics' - feminism, LGBT, BCRA gene. Its definitely not a deep watch, but it was great for me going through some tricky times as it was light hearted and didn't need a lot of concentration. You kind of know everything is just going to work out positively, so no edge of your seat drama! I binged all 4 series in a week or two Blush

I am the Amazon Prime expert ,so my partner tells me ( on films ) not series as to be honest Netflix’s has more series .
But if anybody needs any recommendations for films on prime then drop me message as I post a lot of reviews as well .

This Is Us?

It’s American, but it’s so good. Family drama that flits back and forth between the protagonists’ (plural) childhood in the 80s and 90s, and now.

Dee1975 · 08/04/2021 08:39

Second vote here for ‘this is us’. Some episodes I find a bit boring. But I still can’t wait to get the DC to bed every night to watch the next one.

Me too Grin Waiting for them to go right now.

MyOtherProfile · 08/04/2021 08:54

We have similar taste OP, and I prefer a British series too.

Have you watched the Crown? I didn't expect to like it but it really grew on me.

skippy67 · 08/04/2021 09:34

This is Us is wonderful! Despite not being British...

weareallpassengers · 08/04/2021 19:02

I have tried this is us..it didn't grab me really. and no I haven't watched the crown but it doesn't appeal! gosh I sound really fussy.

DH and I are currently trying to get into the intruder (ch 5?) it's ok but the acting in parts is dreadful!

Just looked up Hindsight and it looks right up my street!

MyOtherProfile · 08/04/2021 19:33

The crown really didn't appeal to me either but it was so much better than I expected.

FredaFox · 08/04/2021 19:40

Following with interest as don’t ever find anything I fancy on prime

123Pandy · 08/04/2021 19:42

This is us!! The best thing I've watched on telly for a very long time

cissyandbessy · 08/04/2021 19:42

The Expanse is decent and am enjoying the first series. Space/futuristic but also character driven.

titsintiers · 08/04/2021 19:42

Brothers & Sisters?

JessieOh · 08/04/2021 19:48

I agree The Crown was much better than I anticipated too.
Although it is said to be dramatised, I did have to pause and Google at times, especially in the earlier series as I didn't know the history they were referring to.
I never liked history as a school age child, so a lot of it went over my head. But The Crown triggered a new interest for me.

But even without that, it was really well acted and I would re-watch which I don't usually do.

Have you seen The Line of duty and Keeping Faith? Both available on iplayer.

weareallpassengers · 08/04/2021 21:10

Ok. we wil carry on with this is us..try the crown and the other suggestions!

weareallpassengers · 08/04/2021 21:11
