Best way to sell a car?

We have decided to sell our second car. We SORNed it last autumn and it looks like we really won't need it as my work is local and DP will be able to work from home loads.
I've never sold a car before, previous ones have just been part-exchanged for the new one. We bought this one for cash.

Auto trader or ebay or somewhere else?
How do you get paid - paypal?
Is there a basic contract to say 'sold as seen' ?

If you'd decide to go down the Ebay etc route take care.

Always, always cash on collection, not Paypal etc. Otherwise you leave yourself open to a refund charge as well as lose the car as you have no proof of delivery.
Ignore any buyers who offer the price straightaway but then claim they are ill/too far away/ etc so they want a courier to collect.
If you want to sell to a private buyer then as long as you are honest then it is certainly always buyer beware.
Do not allow test drives unless Road Fund License, MOT and Insurance are all in place before. And check that any insurance covers for any other drivers. It's an expensive mistake to make if not.

Depending on the value it may be easier/quicker to get the car roadworthy and try WBAC or Evans Halshaw.

We buy any car is worth a look.

Thanks billyt and Chunkymen . It's a sports car, so quite specialist.

If it’s a specialist car, enthusiasts’ forums (such as the MX-5 Owners’ Club, there’s one for Saabs, another for Alfa Romeo etc etc) can be worth a shout. You’re more likely to get serious enquiries than with Autotrader or EBay Motors.

Pistonheads has a classified section too.

I had no idea such places existed.
