Just that really. Remortgaging to get some long overdue work done on the house and garden and am wondering how much to budget for doing the garden.

Probably 15k by the time we've finished. We are at about 12 and have some stuff to do still.

That's completely from scratch, we didn't have plants or anything. It's not a large garden but we wanted quality materials.

I've just had an Indian sandstone patio built about 20sq m, with couple of brick high retaining wall for £2300 and some steps put in down the side of the house (sloping land) which has come to just over 1K.

Lots still needed but I am having to do it in stages as I save up. I am thinking it will be about 5K when all done. That will include another patio area but that will just be gravel. Some raised beds made from old decking that I already have and some levelling which will be retained with sleepers.

My budget doesn't include much for plants as I am 'raiding' friends and families gardens for cuttings and excesses. It will take a few years after finishing before it looks finished.

Costs depend hugely on size, labour costs and how much hard landscaping is wanted.

15k for garden building work. We had quite spendy porcelain paving on two large patios, new shed with power, some new retaining walls with rendering on some of them. Planting is extra and we’ll do that ourselves.

With Plants, patio, shingled drive and two sheds about 15 grand.
