Has anyone else’s hayfever arrived?

Just in the last week I have got full on irritated, sniffy, sore itchy eyes. It’s driving me crazy and nothing seems to bang it on the head!

Hi. Sounds really random but promise it works. Blob of vaseline up each nostril. Also used by paramedics etc to prevent them breathing in germs. Mine was awful. Not helped by me being allergic to horses but having a pony......sneezes and itchy eyes after each visit. This week my Uncle told me the vaseline thing and I haven't had an issue when I've been at all .

Hope this helps. Hayfever is miserable Smile

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 05/04/2021 10:57

Yes, had a runny nose a few times without thinking much of it, but this morning I've got the scratchy eyes and throat too. Taken my first anti-histamine.

I never suffered from hayfever when I was younger, only the last 10 years or so. It's a bugger.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 05/04/2021 10:58

@Owlettele I also get hay fever and am allergic to horses. I also used to ride and worked in a stable for a while. Why do we do it to ourselves?? My eyes would be streaming (pre any meds) but I still loved it 🙂 I've changed to the squirt up the nose stuff - the more expensive Pirinese but it's a Boots own so slightly cheaper. I used chlorphenamine for years with no probs. Then I took a break and when I tried them again they completely zonked me. Deaf to the world!! So far my symptoms are quite mild. Slight sniffs and rubby eyes in the evening. I struggle doing my LFTs though - about 20 sneezes after poking it up my nose!!

Yes DS's has. He's allergic to tree and grass pollen.

Timeforabiscuit · 05/04/2021 11:05

Yup sneezing and sore throat Sad

Will try that vaseline tip tho!

Missingthesea · 05/04/2021 11:09

Yes, I'm currently taking 2 different antihistamines and have just started using a steroid nasal spray. Once the spray's kicked in, I'll stop taking the tablets.

sunnysidegold · 05/04/2021 11:38

My son's has started. He gets it quite badly. I just have irritated eyes and a runny nose.

Need to get on and reorder the antihistamines.

MyPatchworkQuilt · 05/04/2021 11:42

I wondered what was wrong with me today, I feel like shit! Not been able to get my local honey this year due to shops being shut.

Cam2020 · 05/04/2021 11:43

Yes, I've been having a flare up for the past week!

starfishmummy · 05/04/2021 11:45

Oh yes.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 05/04/2021 11:52

I will try the Vaseline thing. I used hay max last year which seemed to help but doing nothing now. On 2 antihistamines! Already have ongoing hives issue. I’m fucked! I am allergic to trees especially silver birch and my next door neighbour has them in the front and back garden.

me too am taking two fexofenadine a day wish I'd asked for the higher dosage

expectopelargonium · 05/04/2021 11:56

Oh golly, yes. I've had mine for weeks already. And this morning, I saw a field of rapeseed showing yellow flowers, so it's only going to get worse from hereon in.

poorbuthappy · 05/04/2021 11:59

Sorry to ask a dull question....how big a blob of Vaseline?
DH and DD16 suffer awfully.

wandawombat · 05/04/2021 12:00

Tree pollen season. Been ill for 2 weeks.

itsgettingwierd · 05/04/2021 12:11

Yep past week has been a delight of sneezing, sore eyes, low grade continuous headache and that's with anti histamines Hmm

SorryPardonWhat · 05/04/2021 13:17

Yes I have my biannual weird eye reaction - happens overnight and I wake up with one eye swollen. Not watery or red but all puffy, a bit Klingon. Lasts a few days. Delightful.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 05/04/2021 14:22

Yep - itchy, itchy, ITCHY eyes that I just want to claw out.

littlewedding · 05/04/2021 14:28

I've been going for a month already Sadtoday's particularly bad.

Those who struggling with antihistamines, have you tried fexofenadine? It's a prescription only one and the only thing which touches mine.

Mewmin · 05/04/2021 14:47

Mine's been bad since mid-Feb! I have a prescription nasal spray (Dymista) with antihistamines and steroids but my eyes are still swollen like golf balls. Mine is tree pollen so usually gone by the end of April thankfully.

DeePlume · 05/04/2021 17:26

I've just been prescribed nasonex spray. It's really helped!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 05/04/2021 17:56

What’s happened to flixonase spray? Doesn’t seem to be available anywhere.
