Quick - opened wine WWYD?

I’m cooking a beef casserole. Thought a bottle of red would go nicely. Had a look at the red wine stash. There’s a bottle of Dark Horse Cab Sauv which I must have bought from Sainsbury’s, probably in the last couple of weeks or so. It rattled suspiciously when I picked it up and the screw top has been opened but the bottle is full and smells ok.

WWYD? DH says test it - he has an impaired sense of taste and smell ( long term thing, not COVID before we get sidetracked) - and thinks I should be the guinea pig!

Decant it and see if there's anything to explain it rattling?!

Is there anyone your house who could explain the open top (teenage child?)?

TBH I wouldn't drink it if I felt fairly sure it'd been open when I bought it.

Ask everyone in the house whether they 'accidentally' opened it. If no one admits to it I wouldn't risk it just in case you bought it that way.

Have a swig, if it’s ok use it

The rattling was the screw cap spinning round rather than making the satisfying crunch of being opened.

Hmm. Two teenagers here, neither red wine drinkers but I will ask.

I think it might have to be ditched

It’s gone down the sink: if I’d picked it up in the shop like that I’d have handed it in and bought another. Teens deny all knowledge and as they are vodka drinkers I believe them!
