How should I pay on gumtree?

I'm looking to buy a piece of furniture that the seller says they'll deliver. I've never used gumtree before and we haven't discussed how to pay yet. Do I just pay cash on delivery or should I use PayPal? I don't want to be scammed! Thanks!

They said they know a man with a van who they can ask to deliver it. They haven't asked for payment yet or told me how so I'm trying to prepare before they do :-)

Yes, thank you! That's what I thought. I guess I'll insist on that if she suggests something else eg PayPal/bank transfer

Friends & family, it means you’ve got no comeback & they don’t pay PayPal fees.

Thank you SO much Thanks

Friends and family - doesn't charge fees but doesn't offer protection either

The goods & services option means you can claim the money back if the item doesn’t arrive (I think)
