Delicious. I fucking hate it man, it irritates the life out of me. I could literally put my fist through a brick wall when people say it, especially if they emphasise on the L. Awful, ugly word that should be banned from the planet forever.

Any words out there that make anyone rage? I believe moist is quite unpopular. But nothing tops the D word for me! :-)

1.Belly 2. Telling kids to stop growing up so fast and 3. using the term "pop" to describe complementary colours (eg. that blue eyeshadow makes your eyes pop Confused)

Oh yes, I was sat. Fgs. I was sitting or I am sitting.
Using obsessed when meaning very fond of. Your 5 year old is not obsessed with unicorns. They are very fond of them. Being obsessed is a serious psychological problem and obsessions are not to be treated as trivial. Use the correct words fgs.

CirqueDeMorgue · 04/04/2021 08:41

I hate delicious too!

Writing breath when breathe is meant. Breath rhymes with death, breathe rhymes with seethe. Sounds ridiculous when the wrong one is used.

'goes' - as in 'he goes' when person meant, "He said...".
same for 'went' - for "he went".

I got in trouble when I first joined MN. There was a thread which started off with the op saying (or 'going' :-), 'He goes....". in practically every sentence!

I couldn't understand a lot of it so I said, light heartedly, "He certainly goes a lot, perhaps he'll soon be gone for good and then you won't have a problem". That really did not 'go' down well. However the op did not return to the thread so I could have been right.

@TheOldRazzleDazzle

Oh, yes, cuppa too. That thread the other day that repeated it hundreds of times was a bit nails on blackboard. Which also incorporated one of my other peeves - pop, as in pop round or pop in. I had this in my head for a few days:

BE KIND AND POP ROUND FOR A CUPPA!

Printed on a tea towel a la Keep Calm or delivered Stepford Wives style!

Yy! POP! Wtf does it even mean Grin.

I don't mind delicious, but god help anyone who described something as 'delectable' in my company.

I worked with an old letch in the 80s who used to comment on all the girls and I remember him saying that one poor new girl was a 'delectable looking filly'. And no, I did not work in a Jilly Cooper novel. Everyone used to say he was 'harmless' but in reality he was a disgusting old perv.

Peckish - it makes me think the person is a greedy fucker who only wants to eat something for the sake of it.
