Mosaic kits

Fancied getting something like this for my dc to do as a little activity during the holidays. They’re 9, 15 and 9 and are all quite into doing craft stuff. I also thought it might be nice to sit round the table and do something together, the teens chat a lot more when they’re distracted (not by their phones Grin )!
Does anyone have any kits they’ve used and would recommend? Ideally something like coasters but I’ve had a very quick scout on Etsy and I wonder if you get enough tiles to be particularly creative with the colours... is it worth buying the individual components and just going it alone?
Also, any suggestions other than mosaics? Both dds got those cute little miniature model house type things for Christmas which they enjoyed and keep coming back to here and there so they are more like ongoing projects. We’ve also liked doing clay pots before (with interesting results!).

My DD (now grown up) has enjoyed doing these in the past - you get all the stuff you need - but they are not 'grouted' like traditional mosaic - you just paint the background and stick the tiles on.

here

Another thing my DD finds very relaxing are diamond painting kits - you stick on tiny sparkly beads to make pictures - the pictures are actually pretty detailed - and there are loads to choose from. As a general rule if you go for these - the bigger the size the more detail you can get in the resulting picture.

here - full drill means the whole canvas is covered with the beads - some kits have sort of painted background and just the main pic in beads.

Another thing we've both enjoyed is decopatch you can buy a kit or you can buy the mache shapes and choose your own papers to stick on. Lots of choice on

here

I think you can get them on amazon too.

I have just bought 4 mosaic coaster kits from Hobbycraft, £5 each and lots of designs to choose from. I haven't opened them yet, but I think you get everything you need in the kit.

Thanks Amy, those first mosaic ones are lovely. We have done some diamond painting, we got a couple of different kits. The marvel characters were really successful, got a couple of arty scenes and they were missing a few colours or the colours weren’t accurate so the finished look was a bit strange but we found it quite therapeutic once we’d worked it out!
And decopatch is something the little one would definitely enjoy, I didn’t know this existed!
And thanks you Leeds, I’ll check out Hobbycraft too, hadn’t even thought of there.
