Why do eggs not have treats inside them anymore?

Growing up . I always remember cracking open my egg to get things like smarties or what not inside

Now they are always separate.

Why? What happened to treats inside the egg?

I think I saw one in Waitrose this morning which had the chocolates 'secretly hidden' inside like it was a totally new thing.

I've bought these for DH and DS, I hope the chocolates really are inside the eggs and not just hidden in the box. Will report back on Sunday!

Also why are eggs now in two halves. I loved trying to gnaw my way through the top of a whole egg

When I was a child I used to think they were ver6 boring, but now I’d LOVE one of those eggs with sugar flowers stuck to the outside . I’m sure I once had one which had a plastic beaded necklace sort of embedded into the flowers and looped across the egg. Beautiful. However I was 4 at the time, so preferred a Tooty Fruities egg.

Dh has also taken fresh food product returns to pig farms.

@GillBungalow if you think Bargebill19 melting down unopened easter eggs is bad, you probably don't want to hear about the Quiche factory I worked at that had a load of unsold quiche sent back from a supermarket distribution hub so we could put a couple of days more date on it!

I just got a small sized egg with milk chocolate buttons inside from Morrison's, only £1.50

Smarties have egg hunt sized boxes of 8 eggs with smarties in them. Can't wait to see DCs faces tomorrow

The small Smarties and Rolos eggs have the sweets inside, my boys were ecstatic (22 and 18) as it was apparently like eggs from when they were very little ❤️

This happened to me once. We were only allowed one small Easter egg after church on Easter Sunday, from our parents. Well one year my mother decided that the boys could have their usual Cadbury eggs, and the girls had to have some handmade 'ladylike' sugar-flower confection. I expect one of her ghastly friends made them.

I nearly cried.

It tasted awful.

They can make the eggs anywhere, just cover with relevant foil for the packaging with the added bars.

If the sweets were inside have to start the separate production process earlier.
