US wilderness

Okay, so this is very random and born of watching too much Netflix but I see on films and documentaries people wandering around in the wild in the US (and obviously other countries). Why are they not worried about snakes or spiders or bears?? I can't even sit in my back garden without eliminating every web I come across. As for the shed...that is a haven of nightmares! And I'm in the UK 😱 Are people in scary critter countries not bothered/have no phobias/are super brave???

My state has no poisonous snakes or spiders but we do have bears and coyotes. We’re careful when we go hiking and camping - we have been visited by a bear that was determined not to leave without the cookies it could smell. Some people carry guns but I mostly carry bear spray. FWIW most of the deaths among hikers here recently have been people who fell, not those who were attacked by wild animals.
