tax-free childcare wrong reference!

Hope someone can help answer...

With one million things to do at the same time I put in the tax-free childcare sort code, bank account and completely wrong reference number.. I'm now panicking that I will not get the funds back.. anyone put the wrong reference when paying and got the money back?

I did on my first attempt at paying money! I spent the first 24 hours refreshing the tfc account to see if it had landed getting more & then realised the mistake … It arrived back in my account not long after. Without me having to do anything.

I did it at 9pm and it had bounced back by 10am the next morning :)

I have just done this exact same thing (yesterday.... Friday) and didn't realise my mistake until after 6pm so couldn't talk to anyone to help, hardly slept as worrying my money is now lost, will returned to my account on Monday?

I have just done this I have put the babies nursery reference instead of my account reference now am worried that il loose the money :(

I've just done this too. Paid into childcare account 24 hours ago with no reference. The money isn't back yet. Anyone got it back after a bit of a wait? I wonder if it will come on Monday since it's the weekend. I can't get through to them. So worried 😫

I did the same last night! Called my bank this morning and they said that I’d need to speak to HMRC! Did anyone get theirs back without having to do anything?

I’ve rang the childcare line but I think they’re closed today… panic as i have to pay the nursery by Monday! 😩

Such a nightmare. I've been trying to ring but you can't get through. Think the new funding for 2 year olds is probably keeping them busy. Good luck.

I have literally just done the same thing!! I got confused when I couldn’t find an account name and got hung up on that and forgot to put the reference number. Been checking all day and just looked online. I actually thought it was individual tax free accounts so just thought it would go through. Has everyone ended up getting their money returned even when they haven’t got through to TFC helpline?

Did this the other day. Money returned the next morning no issues.
