Alton Towers

I'm thinking of doing Alton Towers in the six weeks. The tickets are cheaper than I thought they'd be (£36 in advance), but the food options look terrible!

Has anyone been recently? Is the food better than it looks?

No, the food is worse than it looks, worse than you think, and shouldn't be considered. But that said, going to Alton towers- your bit there for food right? If you want food spend the money on Michelin, but for Alton towers and thrills? Packed lunch

Not there for the food of course bloody autocorrect

All food options are terrible. The first time we went, we ate in the restaurants. Over priced, long waits, poor food. The next time, we took a picnic but had the hassle of carrying it around all day. On the most recent trip, we just bought what we each wanted from the food court area down by the the Sea Life bit where they have things like burgers, hot dogs, fish & chips, wraps etc. All still over priced and not great but at least you're not wasting ride time waiting to be served etc.

We went to the pizza and pasta place near the runaway mine train last time and it was fine. Nothing amazing but it's a theme park, not a foodie heaven.

We had their fried chicken meal the other night we were there and again it was ok. Nothing special but we were starving and would probably have eaten anything at that point!

We took packed lunches for during the day and ate in the evening.

I found the food at Alton towers much nicer than LEGOLAND though.

Where can you put your bag/ packed lunch whilst you're on the rides though? Are there lockers?

Food has always been poor and hasn’t improved. The McDonald’s that was there was probably the best option and I think that’s gone now.

There are lockers at the entrance so take a picnic. If you’re staying in the area I can help you with places to eat etc as I’m local to the park.

Rollercoaster restaurant is worth it for the experience....

But yeah. Overpriced and not great.

TheSuezCanalTugBoat · 01/04/2021 18:00

Ah, if there's lockers then that's great! Picnic it is!

I just had chips the last time I was there, from by the sea life bit. They were alright. Not great, but it was food.

There are lockers on each ride, so you can carry a bag with you and each time you get on a ride there's a place to put them while you're on it.
