How are you feeling? Even when you know it’s coming it can feel like a shock.

She's still the same person she was yesterday.
But now she might get more understanding.

I hear you Flowers

my dd was finally diagnosed a few weeks ago. She's 16. I can't help feeling it all could have been so different if she had had a diagnosis 10 years ago.

How are you feeling? I keep swinging from feeling horribly guilty, to angry to bitter. But I think we have to try to think of the future and use this as a tool to support her as she moves from school into college

Brilliant.

My DD finally got hers at 17, which I totally agree with @swearsbymoonlight would have been so helpful much earlier on but was a hard fought battle for recognition for both of us. For her it explained and made sense to her why she saw the world and reacted differently, and for me it was a bittersweet mix of relief that my feeling was right and it wasn't just poor parenting and sadness that had I or schools understood her sooner, well life might have been a lot easier.

She's now a successful young adult, working, living independently, but the road should have been easier I guess.
