Online Courses for Admin Roles

13 replies

Hansper · 31/03/2021 13:16

Frequent user of MS Word & Excel and can do what I need to as self employed. I miss being part of a team and want to work in an office, ideally as an Administrator rather than purely Secretarial or PA work.

I'd like to do some online courses which will give me a certification and refresh and broaden my skills. Any suggestions of reputable online companies and courses welcomed Smile

Shamelessly following! I am just starting to tentatively look for work and I’ll have to start with admin.

Not suitable for every situation, but one thing I’m considering is trying to volunteer at the CAB as they have receptionist roles.

SingToTheSky · 31/03/2021 13:24

I seem to remember that includes other admin as well but not sure.

I was looking at Pitman courses but they are expensive apparently.

@SingToTheSky

I also looked into CAB but for my location, they want a 12 month volunteering commitment following completion of training (and their office is a tricky commute).

Futurelearn offer courses in gdpr, safeguarding etc which may be useful.

@2orangey

I was looking at Pitman as its a name I'm familiar with. My typing qualifications are Pitman too.

Just wondered if there were any other online providers?

You can do lots of free ones with Microsoft on specific software at various levels.

Hansper · 31/03/2021 14:13

@LIZS
Hadn't even considered GDPR etc, so very helpful, much appreciated.

@Timeforabiscuit
Thank you, I'll take another look at the MS site, ideally I want a certificate to show my competence, and I don't think you get that with the free ones.

Coursera and futurelearn offer free courses

Camomila · 31/03/2021 14:17

Pitman and Futurelearn are the two most popular ones I see on people's CVs.

Hansper · 31/03/2021 14:48

@thesandwich @Camomila
Thank you, I will take a look at these.
