Climbing frame to suit 6yr old and toddler?

Can anyone recommend such a thing?

I would like to get a climbing frame/slide for my soon-to-be 6 year old for her birthday. I have an idea for a whole obstacle course of things (eg stepping stones, balance bars etc) because she loves throwing her self over/down/under etc stuff.

I would like her little sister to be able to use it too because she hates to be left out, and they love playing together, so the big geodesic dome-style climbing frames wouldn't be much use. dd2 is only 16 months but has been walking since 11 months and is very physical, although obviously limited by size/age in what is a good idea.

I thought I had found the perfect thing in a Little Tikes Double Decker, but then the ebay seller changed their mind about selling it and it seems they are no longer made/available.

I can't afford £500+ for the big wood constructions, I'm looking more for a rugged plastic (or simple wood). Does anyone have something like this that they recommend? Preferably in the £200-£300 bracket?

Have a look at quadro. They have sales on specific kits now and again too so it can be cheaper. You can add to it over time and it's very flexible. My 6 yo and 19 month old play with it constantly

The little tikes climbing frames do seem to be the best option but I can’t find any of them new either as I’m also looking for one for my children and all the wooden ones are super expensive

We have a TP Explorer. My DC are now 4 and 7 and have played with it for the last couple of years. You can start with it set low and then add additional elements to make it taller as they grow. We've currently got the tower, den and slide but I'm thinking of buying the jungle run add on.

Little Tikes will be too young for the 6yo.

Can you get a second hand LT cube for the little one and a swing set for the older one. We had a wooden one, it was around £350 I think from tesco with a double swing, then you could switch out one of the swings for a boat swing that they could both go in, and get a stand alone slide.

I think the age gap is to big t get something that will be suitable for both tbh.

I think the age gap’s too big to suit them both. Those dome things can be good for role play and parallel play - so your 16 mo can play inside it while your older daughter climbs.

Aldi did a wooden climbing frame for £140 last summer, hopefully they'll do it again. The bottom bit is perfect to put a sand pit in for the little one.

Also here to recommend TP explorer

I'd echo others in saying the little tykes is probably going to be to young for most 6 year olds. We sold pur twin tunnel climber slightly before that as the youngest had outgrown it.

We replaced it with a TP frame. We went straight to full height, but with the monkey bar attachment. We had a platform which went over the bars, making it much easier for young children to get up to the slide. As they got older you can take it off and use the monkey bars.

The den was particularly popular, long after climbing was easy they loved taking pillows, books and snacks up there.
