Why is Cressida Dick twisting herself into a pretzel to defend Kate Middleton

Either she attended a legal vigil or she did not.

Either she went as part of work or she went in a private capacity as the palace have claimed.

She was in close proximity to other people without a mask, so she could be identified, during a time when we were supposed to work from home.

One thing for sure, she was never manhandled by the police

@MummyJ12

Such vitriol is not healthy. You obviously don’t like the Duchess of Cambridge (which is her name- she hasn’t been Kate Middleton for years).

You are just as bad as the Meghan haters. You have sunk to the level of making conspiracy theories about a really straightforward situation to stir up hate against a woman you have never met.

Does that seem healthy to you?

Mummy195 · 31/03/2021 14:14

It's trending in SM pretty much all morning. Why not, people come here all the time and talk about what is in the news, SM all the time.

Members of the RF should be equally scrutinised. No one asked anything about the current 6 posts on MM.

Kate Middleton went to be seen as a saint after the Meghan interview. In fact, now that lockdown is semi-over, all the royals will be wheeled out one by one to attend events that makes the plebs feel they're relatable and not like the Harry and Meghan interview made them come across. If this was Meghan, there'd be calls for her to arrested or some such rubbish. The KM PR machine is in full swing it seems.

So strange how people think Kate's entire life and the things she does is all about Meghan.

It didn't occur to you that Kate had might have felt about what it was like walking around in London and just trying to get home and encountering danger?

She had a feel of pang like the rest of us did?

GCAcademic · 31/03/2021 14:30

Of course not, because everything has to revolve around MM, and women always have to be pitted against each other. The only way one can look good is for the other to be made to look bad.

I think you may have confused me with the OP?! We share similar usernames.
I didn’t express an opinion of the Duchess of Cambridge?!
No vitriol in my post!

LolaSmiles · 31/03/2021 14:34

She went for a walk, laid some flowers and was within the law.
Those making a big deal of the Duchess of Cambridge going to a park, are you also crying out that other people also go to parks during the day?

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/03/2021 14:39

Ah I see. Not only are you an H&M mega fan, you also hate the DofC. Bloody hell.

Is this about the juncture, when Meghan lovers on most H&M threads start to suggest the thread needs to close and everyone should start talking about Andrew? Wink

Same but without the due respect. Your agenda is flashing like a beacon here OP and it's distasteful, needless and fulfilling only to yourself.

Newsflash, @Mummy195 - people with sufficient cognitive ability do not give a shiny shit about Meghan Markle and her dramatic departure from the UK and could not be arsed to speculate what her sister-in-law is possibly pondering about. There is really no need.

GCAcademic · 31/03/2021 14:44

Honestly, this place gets more like Twitter every day.

Mummy195 · 31/03/2021 14:46

What has MM got anything to do with KM's PR stunt anyway.

The same posters who are here to chastise, keep their mouths shut when there are 20 threads of vitriol against MM. you are the ones showing, and it's not pretty.

Vintagevixen · 31/03/2021 14:47

I'm no fan of the royals but can't see what KM did wrong. So she wasn't wearing a mask outside, big deal, they're not compulsory outside, do sweet FA anyway and Covid spreading outside is pretty non-existent.

Can't get worked up about it - but up the republic (seperate thread I know!)

ismiseeire · 31/03/2021 14:52

No need to wear a mask outdoors. She walked through a park to lay flowers and pause to pay her respects to a murdered woman. She didn't attend a vigil - that started later. She was there earlier in the day just to lay flowers. It was not illegal to go to the park and lay flowers.

Posters are showing what? (Although agree am defo not looking pretty on day umpteen of no hairdressers or brow threading!) How are posters meant to be aware about all other threads. Are posters also meant to take notice of parking/school issue/inlaw threads and not comment on any unless they comment on every thread? Hmm given you say your thread isn't about MM?
LookAChicken · 31/03/2021 14:56

I do t wear a mask in the park or on the high street.
Show me the evidence for outdoor transmission and I'll reconsider of course.

Frownette · 31/03/2021 15:09

One of the most awful things about this sort of occurrence is that it's plastered all over the press. Sarah's loved people lose their privacy as they want to reclaim her.

At the same time the public feel empathy and want to show they care.

I don't think there is anything major to say here, Kate walked out in public without a face mask carrying daffodils to say she was sorry that this has happened. It's hardly like she was doing cartwheels and carrying a knife.

Medeaaah · 31/03/2021 15:12

@Frownette

Thank you for this image of Kate. For practical reasons one must imagine her holding the knife between her teeth whilst doing cartwheels.

Grin
Mummy195 · 31/03/2021 15:13

I and some posters have correctly pointed out the disparity in the treatment of both women.
But, let's put MM aside.

I don't live far from the area, and we were told about an all day vigil with speakers coming in from around 6. KM was not taking a stroll and happened on the vigil.

The locals are upset because the other women were treated differently. Why it was just illegal for them.

OP posts:
LookAChicken · 31/03/2021 15:14

Yes, she doesn't need anyone defending her actions.

The pressure on Cressida Dick is about police behaviour later on.

What an odd detail to pick up on : one woman's silent trip to lay flowers in a park at a peaceful moment as a tribute. Not about to contribute to the spread of Covid was it?

I agree, the Duchess of Cambridge could not have been any more low key. The footage of her was from members of the public. The paparazzi were obviously not tipped off, unlike other staged photo opportunities for other royals (the wreath laying on Poppy Day for example Hmm)
Mummy195 · 31/03/2021 15:21

It was not members of the public, it was a Sky News reporter !
