Trousers for tall slim teenage boy

Where do you buy trousers for your sons, when:

  • they have outgrown the trousers in the older kids section of mainstream shops, eg. H&M
  • the trousers in the small section of the mens sections just don't fit.

My teen son (13) is tall (5ft 9) and skinny. Trousers with no adjustable waistband are just too big.

He has long legs, so even if we miraculously find trousers that fit the waist, they ride up his leg.

Aside form school trousers, he lives in a pair of primark joggers (mens size xs) that fit round the waist, but are now getting short, plus it is getter warmer!

Where do your beanpoles get their trousers?
He won't wear jeans/chinos.
No budget constraints.
Will shop online or visit shop (when they open again)

Something like this? www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350025885.aspx#shoppingtool=treestructureflyout

We used to get them from Burton (do they still exist?) and Next. IIRC Next do a longer leg length.

Mine is 6'3 (and 14...) and Next is brilliant. He loves the slim joggers in mens small which come in a long fit. You can't seem to filter by what is available in leg lengths, but theres a good variety on the website

Some of the Next slim fit trousers are very slim! I've not been massively impressed with the fabrics, but they fit my skinny long-legged boy and he's happy enough with them.

My husband is very tall and slim too, and he find that the Hollister jeans fit well (they start at a 26in waist and are true to size).

Sparklingbrook · 31/03/2021 11:20

He's 14 @CMOTDibbler? How did that happen so quickly? DS1 is 22 this year. Shock

TimeforaGandT · 31/03/2021 11:21

River Island do very slim waists with good leg lengths.

I can't remember which now-could have been Burtons but they did a 'super skinny fit' which looked uncomfortable frankly! My two will not entertain any baggyness where trousers are concerned, I worry for their circulation.

@Sparklingbrook I know, one minute they are all little and cute, the next they are resting their chin on top of your head...

I know! The 19 year old is towering over us all too, it's really not on. Grin

M&S super skinny extra long - they are double hemmed so you can let them down by another inch after a growth spurt (normally 5 mins after buying them in our case!) www.marksandspencer.com/senior-boys-super-skinny-longer-length-trousers/p/clp60450629?color=BLACK
