I have noticed that I am not breathing properly. I'm breathing ok, not getting out of breath but I am in a constant state of tension so much so that my neck and upper back really ache esp in the morning as I think I do this when I sleep. I also am pushing my tongue really hard against my teeth too and my front teeth feel achy in the morning. It's affecting my sleep and I have developed sleep apnea symptoms and have been referred to the sleep clinic but that won't be till nearly a year.

When I try to relax I can feel my shoulders go down and my stomach sort of relaxes out and pushes out too which feels really really uncomfortable. I developed a decent sized diastasis recti after my last baby a couple of years ago and this issue has started since then. I don't know if that's just coincidence but I think there's a link but don't know how.
I want to see someone privately but don't know who to see. Has anyone been in a similar situation or understand what the hell is going on with me. thanks.

It sounds like anxiety to me. I am very similar, especially when im stressed. Its almost like i forget to breathe.

Yoga?

My breathing isn't good but I had a lung infection. I had water pills from A&E to remove liquid but am still puffed out. Though I think lack of exercise is not helping!

Have you spoken to your GP?
It could be anything.

My gp has referred me to a sleep clinic as my sleep is affected similar to sleep apnea though my symptoms are not all the typical sleep apnea ones.

As for the breathing she did refer me to the ENT who I had a telephone consultation with and gave me some nasal decongestants and discharged me. I want to go to see someone private as gp doesn't feel anything is wrong with me as I'm not really getting out of breath or anything. I want to see someone privately but don't know what type of specialist to see as I don't really know what my problem is!

LEMtheoriginal I actually did think it was anxiety/ stress but this has been going on for nearly 3 years and has slowly gotten worse. Maybe I have just developed bad breathing habits. I have no idea. I am aware that when I completely relax my belly really pushes out like an internal pressure pushing out and it feels really uncomfortable and I subconsciously an holding my stomach in constantly to counteract the uncomfortableness. Holding your stomach in affects your breathing so maybe it's that too. I have no idea. I'm so lost and desperately want to get to the bottom of this. It's really getting me down.

3 years????
Ask the GP for a referral to a specialist ASAP. I think you need a comprehensive set of tests, bloods, x-rays everything. Good luck.
