Any cutlery experts/retailers?

I am desperate for more of the same cutlery, think we got the set as a wedding present o we 20 years ago, so possibly no longer made. However, I’m happy to have second hand. It says 18/10 on the back, but that brings up loads of types so I guess that’s a standard or something.
Only spoons, everything else is in the dishwasher!

18/10 is the type of stainless steel the cutlery is made from.
Sorry, no idea on the style.

Cherrysoup · 31/03/2021 00:40

10% nickel, apparently, to make it extra corrosive resistant. It is wearing well.

Your best bet might be the charity shops, they sometimes have baskets of cutlery and utensils.

Have you looked in ebay? You never know, some might turn up.

Contact the major manufacturers, places like Viners, they will be able to say if it is them or not.

When the dishwasher finishes can you photograph a set and then do an image search?

Plexie · 31/03/2021 07:34

Googling "cutlery patterns" brings up this comprehensive picto-list:

finestflatware.com/pages/pattern-identifier

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/03/2021 08:36

Try here when you know the manufacturer or have the patience to go through the lists of photos. It's a cutlery search website that sells items of discontinued/retired cutlery.

LIZS · 31/03/2021 08:41

Yes 18/10 is just the standard of the stainless steel. Are there any backstamps or etching in knife blade? It does not look like a universal pattern. You could try googling cutlery matching services.

Cherrysoup · 31/03/2021 13:21

You lot are super helpful! I’m not seeing it yet, will keep trawling!

Just as a bet with myself, I’d say it was made by Viners.
Off to google!

RumJerrySailorRum · 31/03/2021 13:35

It normally says viners on the cutlery, at least all of mine does.

It's not 20 years old but it's not far off.

LIZS · 31/03/2021 13:36

Try looking at Oneida patterns. Size of tea spoon looks American

Sgtmajormummy · 31/03/2021 13:59

Not quite the same, especially the shape of the spoon bowls.
Could you take a picture of the other pieces, OP? Once they’re out of the dishwasher, of course!

I looked at all the Viners, didn’t see anything similar.

If it was made by Viners, Oneida , George Butler of Sheffield etc it will say so on the reverse of each piece at the throat and/or on the blade of each knife.

Does it even give country of origin? If not it is likely made in the Far East for a retailer like Debenhams.

TeaMilkNonePlease · 31/03/2021 19:32

Arthur Price is another possibility, our canteen of cutlery was a wedding gift so is a similar vintage.

Judgedbycats · 31/03/2021 19:34

You could try looking on the Nisbets website. They're a catering equipment wholesalers.

misshappy123 · 31/03/2021 20:46

We have this! I've looked at the back and it has the 18/10 marking. Got it as a wedding present in 1999.....it was from Marks & Spencer's, hope that helps Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/03/2021 21:03

In that case it's this one Mellina

Cherrysoup · 31/03/2021 21:05

@misshappy123 I thought it might be, but they aren’t currently listing it, so I’m guessing it’s no longer made. If ever you want to sell some.....😃

There are no markings except the 18/10 stamp on the spoon.

Cherrysoup · 31/03/2021 21:08

@TheWoollybacksWife that’s not the same I’m afraid, not at all.

@Cherrysoup if you have the design name then you can email [email protected] and they can check to see if they have any items for sale.

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/03/2021 21:11

Oh bummer. Sorry I thought I'd found it then Sad

Cherrysoup · 31/03/2021 21:15

@TheWoollybacksWife I sadly have no idea of the design name.

I’m liking the website mentioned by @Judgedbycats, it gives nice clear pictures!
