Please give me praise

I had 14 bags for life/boxes of unsorted stuff in my house. Now I have none. Please give me praise.

No more accidentally coming across condolence cards from over four years ago. No more tat (apart from the tat the kids actively curate in their own bedrooms).

Next and final step: sorting out the garage.

We had a clever closet fitted earlier this month. It’s brilliant! Having some building work done and my builder was super impressed too. Enjoy.

I’m so sorry to hear re your late DH. 37 is far far too young. Flowers

Oh this is great to hear! I chose it partly based on good feedback on Mumsnet threads. You are helpful people Smile

Very impressive! Have a big slice of praise from me CakeGin

I'm really sorry that you lost your DH Thanks

Graphista · 30/03/2021 19:01

Congratulations! That's quite an achievement!

I have hoarding tendencies that I am slowly trying to tackle, not easy. I worry I'll throw something crucial out by accident.

Plus that's physically hard work!

Well done!

Hang on, back up the truck....

DS is 11? How the hell did that happen? He's just a little boy...

4 years. You're doing well my lovely 🌸 your fabulous DH absolutely, definitely, should not have died at 37.

You've had a very tough 4 years 💐

I am VERY impressed with your sorting out! I have a LOT of stuff that needs sorting through, you put me to shame! Shame I tell ya!

Big hugs & lots of 🏅 🎖 🥇 💐 🍰 🍷 🍹 🎁 💕

Good luck with the garage 😬

Well done OP. I love a good clear out but it can be so hard to let go of things we associate with good memories, so you definitely deserve all the praise.

Ha ha yes he’s getting on - desperate to leave school and get a job but alas, all this compulsory education...!

Tbh it’s been a slog since terminal diagnosis in 2013. But pressing on

@tunnocksreturns2019 WOW! I am impressed and I really mean that. I probably have 14 carrier bags and archive boxes to sort. One day I will.

I think it is amazing! Grin

Bless you, that’s hard. It isn’t easy. I certainly haven’t chucked everything. But I know what I have and where it all is now.

Blessed be the fruit of your labour!!

Lots and lots of praise and admiration being sent your way Grin

Wowzers, well done you! A proper spring clean!

Sorry to hear about your DH Sad

powershowerforanhour · 30/03/2021 19:14

Hurrah well done!!

mineofuselessinformation · 30/03/2021 19:15

Well done, Tunnocks!
I'm sure having some clutter was the least of your worries over the last years, so it's fabulous you are 'in a place' to tackle it now. Smile

Deathraystare · 30/03/2021 19:15

Sorry to hear about your DH. I was responsible for going through Dad's and then Mum's stuff. Actually it wasn't very emotional for me mainly because Dad had long retired but managed to move house with all his ties!! Not many jackets, but his ties! He stopped wearing them when he retired!!!

Mum was bad in another way. Fecking cardigans! When she moved to a flat I tried to downsize her (I am one to talk!!). I tried to get rid of some of them. She was having none of it. I gave 11 bags of Dad's stuff to the Sally Army and god alone knows how much of mum's stuff as well!!

mackleless · 30/03/2021 19:16

I’m very jealous of your drive!

tunnocksreturns2019 · 30/03/2021 19:16

I feel like I need to explain what I have kept in case any of you want to reconsider and withdraw or moderate your praise:

  1. One three-section blanket box: my favourite of DH’s old jumpers; old uni stuff and some photo albums.
  1. Three under bed storage boxes: memory box for each DC (first shoes, baby scans etc.) and one for myself.
  1. One small box condolence cards.
  1. One small box and one drawer of unsorted photos.
  1. One small box of DH-specific things like his uni dissertation. I also have a drawer of his minidiscs and his minidisc player that I’m never parting with!
  1. FYI I have over 1000 books. Probably 2000. But they are quite genuinely all categorised and alphabetised and there are sufficient shelves for all Grin. I’ve been through them a good few times, and do so once a year.

[waits for praise reduction]

Having a cellar is so COOL! Are you going to do something fun with it when you’re done?

I thought you actually meant my drive. I mean, where my car is parked. It’s not that great, just tarmac. Bricks round the edge, not the whole thing. And then I realised BlushGrin
