Ebay help??

EbayNewbie · 29/03/2021 21:17

Sold 3 items on eBay. The buyer has tried to pay for items but is getting the message that I can't accept payments.
Any clue? I've tired the ebay chat but got nowhere.

Is the buyer abroad?

Ninkanink · 29/03/2021 21:27

Either that or you may have a paypal issue?

Allergytowhat · 29/03/2021 21:32

I don't think so. I've used my PayPal the other day. I don't know where they are I've not received any info

Haven't eBay recently changed payment methods so it goes into a normal account not PayPal?

Ninkanink · 29/03/2021 21:35

For some people but not all, if I understood correctly. Or maybe it’s been rolled out to everyone now.

EbayNewbie · 29/03/2021 21:37

When I made the listing it asked for my paypal

Any other ideas? I need the money

Try resending the invoice?
Is the buyer abroad? If so and you say you don’t post abroad it won’t allow the buyer to pay.
If PayPal, is your account/address verified? Think also it won’t let people pay if the address you have on eBay is wrong (although if you’ve sold other things recently this presumably isn’t the case).

Fabpinky · 29/03/2021 22:33

@bestbefore yes but buyers can still pay via paypal

EbayNewbie · 29/03/2021 23:03

How do I resend the invoice? The buyer is in uk

It's under the selling/ sold hub - are you on the app?

EbayNewbie · 29/03/2021 23:59

Yes on app. I can get it on the pc if needed

I’ve had a similar issue with PayPal

They want you to verify your account - to do this they take £1 out and there’s a code attached to the payment ‘paypal3456’ and you use the numbers to verify your account

They blocked my account and I had 2 1.5 hour discussion with them in the last week.

When you ring state ‘speak person’ and you’ll get through otherwise it’s the same shit they spout on the website. There customer service is awful.

When I complained they just replied with ‘here’s the x site you need to place a formal complaint’ not even an apology.

I’ve cancelled my account.

Ninkanink · 30/03/2021 09:44

You don’t have to speak to them to verify your PayPal account. You can do that through eBay, or through PayPal. Can’t remember which but I had to do it once some time back and I just did it myself.

EbayNewbie · 30/03/2021 11:55

My account is verified I used PayPal through ebay the other day

OP posts:
Ninkanink · 30/03/2021 12:01

That doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t want to verify it again - it comes up no matter how often you use it or have used it in the past. I sell and buy a LOT through eBay and I had to verify mine a while back. However if it’s the case you should, I think, have had an email, or it might say on your PayPal (right hand side, iirc).

EbayNewbie · 30/03/2021 12:29

Ok doke I'll have a lookie

OP posts:
EbayNewbie · 30/03/2021 13:17

I've had a look and no emails have been sent to me also no options on the eBay selling page. So frustrating

OP posts:
Ninkanink · 30/03/2021 13:20

Have you had a look on PayPal to see if there’s anything on your account page?

EbayNewbie · 30/03/2021 13:23

Yeah I did. I may have fixed it though hoping what I did works. Thank you so much everyone 😊

OP posts:
EbayNewbie · 30/03/2021 19:30

Not fixed after all. She's now asking to cancel order and bank transfer me it? Is this safe?

OP posts:
greyspottedgoose · 30/03/2021 19:33

Give her your PayPal email and then if she pays goods and services it will be fine

Tommika · 30/03/2021 19:49

Cancelling the eBay order and doing a bank transfer evades the eBay system, and all protection is lost. It cancels eBay fees etc as well as the transaction is canceled

(If there’s no actual problem with your PayPal account then they could pay you directly into PayPal)

All of this of course means that you manage to pass details on to each other which may get blocked out of the eBay messages, such as your email details, paypal, bank account details etc

Check all of your sales details on a full version of the eBay webpage. Either on computer or using your phones browser set in ‘desktop mode’

Conditionconditioncondition · 30/03/2021 19:52

Bank transfer is fine.
eBay might catch you out if you cancel the sale, they might not. Pot luck
But you can definitely bank transfer and not cancel the sale, just select paid
