What If Anything Have You Learnt Today?

I have learnt that I still need to work on not correcting DH in front of DD ( we were all having words this morning & I should have waited to tell him what I thought about his behaviour until DD was out of earshot). Also I’m still not good at giving him space. We’re so different - I need to get it all out & he needs time to process. I have also learnt that we have come a million miles from a few years back, as we can sit down like mature adults & discuss what happened then have a hug.

Today:

I learned the vocab for transport on Duolingo. I'm always tickled by how the course is laid out, and that the lesson including trains, trams, and buses has come waaaay after the one about farms. I can now tell you that you that bus is picking us up next to the field of sweet potatoes.

I learned some new techniques from an online art course I'm doing.

I learned a lot more than I previously knew about Marie Antoinette from a podcast, including that not only did she not say 'let them eat cake', but that this was an old chestnut even at the time, and had been published in a book ten years before she supposedly said it.

I have learnt that I can get through a longggģ boring Sunday without alcohol.
That's it.

I need to de-stress and to be kinder to myself. I've put on weight but it will be worked off in the coming weeks with being able to see friends and go to the gym from the 12th.

Don't knit complicated sock patterns when drunk/hungover.

I learnt (or was reminded) how great my pals are. A couple have had bad news this week and the way everyone’s rallied round with practical and emotional support has been really lovely.

I'm week three into learning Arabic, trying to learn the alphabet.

My PT said today I was stronger than I should be given it is week two! I learned that I'm not a quitter and kept going even though I wanted to stop.

I learnt this:
Masaoala Sapphire is actually a treated sapphire where lower colored and grade sapphire material has undergone fissure filling by glass to give a enhanced color and surpressed fractures

So you could have a properly blue sapphire but at much lower cost. Obviously it’s not worth anywhere near a genuine untreated sapphire and you have to be careful you’re not paying top dollar for a treated stone.

I learnt that the end of Toy Story 3 still makes me weepy even though I've seen it a million times.
Also that the clocks changing still messes up the whole family's body clocks for no apparent reason. We've all been knackered today.

Today I learnt that my new Alexa-enabled headphones are bloody brilliant, even if I do look like I'm talking to myself.

I've learned that cheap lotus flower lampshades from China are difficult to construct.

I've learnt that the footpath next to the shetland ponies only leads to a narrow road with no pavement and isn't worth walking to.

I've also learnt that my mum's partners cancer is untreatable (proper partner who she has lived with for the last 5 years) and sadly won't see next Christmas.
