Been throwing up for a week

Hi
So from last Saturday I have been experiencing vomiting and nausea daily. Last night I threw about 10 times or so ( nearly every hour). At some point it started being triggered simply by me changing position ( sitting to standing etc).
I was pretty much nil by mouth at that point as even drinking water was causing me to throw up.

I don't think pregnancy is possible as I am on the pill , but not sure what else could be causing this. Is it worth contacting my Gp if it continues for a few more days?

Thanks

Pregnancy can be possible when you’re on the pill. And even if you’re not pregnant, you should be getting yourself some medical attention, surely you’re getting dehydrated?

cameocat · 28/03/2021 18:09

Definitely contact your GP.

You could be pregnant, the pill is not 100% reliable so investigate that too.

Labyrinthitis? Vertigo?

Ring the GP tomorrow, you need some professional advice about it. There's are a hundred and one causes for vomiting, the majority of them easily resolved with fluids and rest, but it's still best to speak to a doctor when it's been going on for longer than you'd expect and so frequently each day.

In the meantime, are you managing to stay properly hydrated? If a full glass of water is an issue then a mouthful or two every five minutes so you drink it slowly can help it stay down. You can also get some hydration from foods with high water content such as jelly, cucumber, melon, etc. Hydration sachets are good too, you can get them over the counter.

Are you definitely not pregnant? With all four of my DC, my first clue was non-stop nausea and vomiting, by the time I got to DC4 I started throwing up four days before my period was even due (hyperemesis).

I think it’s fair to contact a gp without waiting a few more days if it’s been going on for a week and by the sounds of it getting worse. It sounds like more than just a random tummy bug. I do think you should take a pregnancy test though.

FoxyTheFox · 28/03/2021 18:12

If you get any signs of dehydration - rapid heartbeat, confusion, lack of urination, etc - then you should call 111 as you might need IV fluids and antiemetics.

Suzi888 · 28/03/2021 18:16

A bug? As pp said I’d see how you are tomorrow and either ring 111 or can someone get you a pregnancy test ?

Hope you feel better soon.

Ima90skid · 28/03/2021 18:41

Thank you everyone for responding. I will head out to the shops and buy a test just in case. I will also contact the Gp in the morning for advice. Hopefully it's goes away soon , thanks again x

Have u got a fever?

MegaClutterSlut · 28/03/2021 20:55

I would definitely rule out pregnancy first my niece is a 'pill' baby if negative I would make a docs appointment

Avebury · 29/03/2021 09:00

Appendicitis?

AdventureIsWaiting · 29/03/2021 09:12

DH had this - it was an ear infection. Just moving slightly made him throw up. The GP had to 'reset' him with meds. Please see a GP or pharmacist urgently - you are at risk of dehydration if you are throwing up that much.

JMAngel1 · 29/03/2021 09:16

Did you have the covid vaccine recently? I vomited for 6 days after it.

GreenSlide · 29/03/2021 09:51

How are you this morning OP? Hope you've been able to make an appointment with your GP - i think it's important that you get advice today Thanks

Tinkerbell456 · 29/03/2021 10:03

Sounds truly worth asking if you are pregnant.

Ima90skid · 29/03/2021 11:04

Hi everyone have gone to buy a pregnancy test , will take that tomorrow morning. I am awaiting a phone call from my Gp's at some point.

@JMAngel1 I had the Covid vaccine in early February , which gave me a fever etc but no vomiting.

Thanks again everyone Daffodil

@Ima90skid
I hope you are feeling better and have a diagnosis.

TheDoctorDances · 01/04/2021 10:30

I’m a “pill baby” and I myself have gotten pregnant on the pill. It is possible.

Isadora2007 · 01/04/2021 10:33

@Ima90skid update? Did you pee on a stick? Have you stopped vomiting? Hope you’ve got some relief either way...

Echobeachsomeday · 01/04/2021 10:38

Hi @Isadora2007 took a test , I'm not pregnant , have not thrown up yesterday/today but still feeling nauseous. Thanks for asking how I am x
