I have a school direct interview, would really appreciate outfit suggestions, styles and products would be a bonus!

Thanks

Go to Next website. Buy a suit dress and a cardigan.

Anything smart will be fine.

I think you'd get a better response posting this in style and beauty, but when I went for an interview for my last school 4 years ago, I opted for a navy skirt, black trousers, longline cardigan and black flats :) fuss free and simple, which is what a school direct school would require tbh!

Nothing too tight, short or low cut.
Cover any tattoos.
Check the dress code for teachers at the school if published.

I sit on interview panels for teachers and recommend a smart outfit as you do notice those who have and haven’t made an effort. A nice smart, simple dress works wonders. Or skirt/trousers and a very smart top. Not a t-shirt style top. Not sleeveless. Not a jumper.

PotteringAlong · 28/03/2021 18:34

And wear smart shoes. We will notice if they’re scruffy!

But yes, dress and cardigan is fine. Suit is fine. Sensible - not low cut, not short. Cover tattoos. Take out piercings (other than one pair of earrings if you have them).

If you can post a few ideas of what you have already I can give more advice.

The dress code at my school is generally summarised as you shouldn't be able to see down it, up it or through it.

As long as you are clean, tidy and reasonably smart you'll be fine. Go for flats or very low heels as they're more practical. Cover up any offensive tattoos.

BogRollBOGOF · 28/03/2021 19:15

I favour dresses. I am not a jacket/ suit person and don't feel myself dressing in them so they don't do me any favours on the day.

My daughter had an interview at a school in December. Their website said teachers were expected to comply with the dress code for its sixth formers, so she looked at that.

She wore a smart black skirt just above the knee, a black jacket that she used to wear in the 6th form, and a plain dusky pink top. Nothing new except for low black shoes. Hair tied back (it's long) and no jewellery except for one unobtrusive pair of earrings.

She looked really smart and was offered a place.

Good luck!
