It's really bugging me. Not sure if it's actually from the 2000s, might have been written before. These are the details I can remember -
Male protagonist.
There was a part where the male protagonist was talking about his mother and how it annoys him when she looks into her tissue after blowing her nose! Something like 'what does she expect to find there?' (do not know why I remember that).
Possibly the most identifying bit? The book often had '' in the text and then at the bottom of the page there would be something along the lines of " Dear Mr Author, did you mean the words 'blah blah blah' instead of 'blah blah blah'?"
I appreciate it's not much to go on but hopefully someone recognises?
