What minor medical ailment do you wish you had the power to eradicate?

I am currently being plagued by a pesky cold sore, which comes back every few weeks.

It’s often accompanied by aches across my entire face.

While it’s not particularly dangerous (kissing babies aside) it’s a horrible, lingering pain in the face.

You?

@BlackCatsRule88 have you tried Ropinirole for restless legs? Absolute game changer!

Scrubadub · 28/03/2021 12:27

Tinnitus

CosmicComfort · 28/03/2021 12:27

Knee pain
Piles
Constipation
Prolapses of all types: not minor but a complete indignation that no one ever warns you about when you are young.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Unfortunately people who don't suffer from it often think it's 'just a bit of tummy ache / constipation / the runs', when it can actually rule your life.

Migraines. Also garners very little sympathy - "oh when I have a headache I just pop a couple of aspirin and get on with my day!"

Migraines are not 'a headache' !!

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Period pain and associated issues.
Oh god, yes.

How could I have forgotten about these bastard things!!

PatriachyChickenChampion2020 · 28/03/2021 12:33

A lot of these aren't minor! Especially gynaecological issues - women are socialised not to complain and to minimise

My actual contribution to the thread Wink and I don't even know if this is a medical issue as such, but fucking splinters. They are so irritating for such a small thing.

PatriachyChickenChampion2020 · 28/03/2021 12:35

Again not an "medical" ailment as such but fucking chin hairs that appear from nowhere overnight and are an inch long.

TheFogsGettingThicker · 28/03/2021 12:38

Corns. Minor, yes, annoying and painful, yes.

My feet are a mess.

LongHairDontCare38 · 28/03/2021 12:38

@CormoranStrike I know you're not asking for remedies but I started taking L-lysine & I haven't had a cold sore for over a year. Bloody nasty things!

CormoranStrike · 28/03/2021 12:40

I would definitely welcome remedies

If you're getting them really often you can ask the GP to put you on prophylactic antivirals. They work well.

CoraPirbright · 28/03/2021 12:44

UTI’s. They are the work of the devil.

Firefretted · 28/03/2021 12:45

Plantar fasciitis. I love walking and even though it's only a minor ailment, it's really affecting my mobility :-(

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 28/03/2021 12:59

My bloody (literally) piles arrived with my first pregnancy and have plagued me on and off ever since. Can be excruciating and as you can't exactly mention it in polite company you have to grin and bear them with no sympathy.
I have a drawer full of creams and suppositories and when I finally plucked up courage to see the GP (after years of suffering) and get a referral I was told I actually need a minor op so maybe not such a minor problem after all.

worried3012 · 28/03/2021 13:10

Oh God, yes. Every step was like a naiI gun firing into my heel. had it for almost 2 years in one foot, had to get physio and ultrasound before it went away. I had about six months free before I got it in my other foot and that took almost 8 months to clear up.

I found that walking barefoot on grass or sand helped (despite advice on the internet to not walk barefoot). Even better is alternating between paddling in water and walking on warm sand. I discovered this on holiday in Spain, sorry that's not an option right now but worth bearing in mind for future.

Tonsillitis. My DD has it, can’t get a GP appointment and has a hole in one tonsil that is so big she lost a paracetamol in it.
