Hi everyone I’m 34 weeks I’ve been experiencing a lot of regular tightenings they are not painful, I feel the urge to urinate so much more than usual for me, over the past hour I started to get lower dull backache I’m not sure if I should be worried ayone else had something similar?

It could be anything, Braxton hicks, nothing at all. But if you feel anything different go to midwife. It's not worth asking because it is probably fine, but go and get checked

No not painful when I’m urinating, having constant backache now doesn’t seem to be easing its at the bottom of middle part of my back

Could be a urine infection which is causing tightenings and back pain. You should get checked out by your triage....please call them. Untreated UTIs can cause prem labour. I'm a midwife.

Kerry00 · 28/03/2021 04:24

I don’t think it’s a urine infection it’s not cloudy or foul smelling or burning, I’ve had to leave sample in to doc last week came back Normal tho could I have only gotten one? I’m not sure if it would be or not

Triage is there 24/7 - if it’s getting worse then please call for advice. They always say they’d rather you get checked out than sit at home worrying. As PP said it could be something or nothing, you need advice and probably a once over

Yes give them a ring, that's what they are there for. Hope everything's ok

starsinyourpies · 28/03/2021 05:36

Please call, this is exactly what they are there to advise on.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 28/03/2021 05:39

I agree with PP saying ring if you are concerned.

It's alright to ring! Don't worry about bothering anyone.

Kerry00 · 28/03/2021 05:43

Just off phone to them they told me to drink plenty of fluids and lay on my left side if pain gets unbearable and changing position doesn’t help to ring straight back again, but I feel like the pain is constant and is very sore already

They just don't want you rushing down if you don't have to, especially given the current circumstances.

Baby may have decided to snuggle down into the engaged position which can be really bloody sore on your lower back.

For now, I would follow the advice you have been given, keep an eye out for any discharge, and time your pains.

As they said though if it gets too much ring them right back.

UTIs can present differently to 'normal' in pregnancy apparently (this is what my consultant has told me). I've had about 10 so far, I'm 34 weeks too.

Sometimes it's just back/kidney cramps or ache and that's it.

Could also be braxton hicks combined with babys head being engaged and so you need to wee more often.

RizzleRazzle · 28/03/2021 09:36

I've just seen that you posted this at 4am, if you are still in a lot of pain now 5.5 hours later call them back and insist you be checked out. They can do a urine dip test to rule out a UTI and find out what's causing it.

SquirtleSquad · 28/03/2021 09:37

I'd get checked just to be on the safe side if nothing else OP

CuppaTandCake · 28/03/2021 09:58

Just go get it checked out. UTI’s can be asymptomatic, give the irregular tightenings and frequent urination I’d say that warrants checking. Also a midwife, if you had called me with that history I’d be inviting you in x

PuzzleMonkeyMum · 28/03/2021 10:38

I was admitted into hospital when I was about 32 weeks pregnant with DS. It was a UTI that had moved into my kidneys. I have always suffered with UTI’s , burning, foul smell etc but this time didn’t have any symptoms apart needing to wee more which I put down to being so pregnant. The back pain was agony, I couldn’t even lie down. Eventually went to a and e and was admitted and on IV antibiotics for 4 days so worth getting checked out
