Random scenes remembered from films/books

Can we have a thread where we help each other out on remembering films/shows/ books where we can remember random scenes. I’ll start:

  1. It’s a film set in the snow and a group of people are lost. One of the characters uses his voice for his job and he could shout for help but everyone knows if he did this he’d lose his voice and hence lose his career. Eventually they decide he has to shout for help so he does and then they get rescued but the time frame is such that they would have been rescued anyway and he sacrificed his voice for nothing.
  1. Film set in ancient times and slaves are in a kind of arena fighting lions and decide to smile as they get mauled to death. Kind of as a final act of defiance towards their keepers. So their severed heads are all smiling- what is this film??!
  1. A chapter of a book called sausage inspection. A new person starts at school and older children play a joke on the girl and say they have to show their lunch to the head girl or something along these lines??

Can anyone shed some light on my half remembered scenes from films and books??!

1 sounds ridiculous. Why would he lose his voice?

I don't know any of them sorry!

I have no idea but PMK for curiosity, esp the first one which sounds even bonkers than the second and third...

Can't help, but the last one sounds fun and wanted to boost for you.

I also add another: A book I vaguely remember from the late '80s/early '90s, aimed at pre-teens and young teens, where a teenage boy had this yellow notebook or binder that he's been writing in all the time about his home country, and near the end there is this scene where it get knocked out of his hand and it turns out it just says "I don't know" over and over & it turns out (in a scene shortly before, the main character goes to look up the country in the encyclopedia set, because yellow book boy won't stop talking about, I recall it being a big thing about reaching for the P book before it cut to the next scene) that the country was like a temporary Soviet state or something that lasted days before it was taken over by another.

I found it really moving, but I can't remember the title, just that that it had a very 'school library book of the time' very generic cover of a few teens I think on a porch.

1- a kids programme that had a man walking a dog - all made entirely out of different rainbow coloured, different shaped building bricks .

  1. A kids book about anthroposophical animals doing gymnastics, I can vaguely remember a bear doing acrobatics and possibly falling over (PE lessons?) about 1994 ...
  1. Kids book about flooding house and calling plumber . Probably around 1994/5 too . Was a tiny little book so probably for very small kids .

4 . A crap book c2002 ish about two girls and an old woman who go to the loo in a shopping centre, came out and the world has been taken over by aliens or something? Very strange and rather boring book from memory .

The book about a house getting flooded could be An Evening at Alfie's by Shirley Hughes.
