What do you think they might be waiting for? The house is definitely occupied, they have the (Christmas) lights on.

It's been a pretty miserable year, can't blame them if they want to keep some level of festivities going/they're too depressed to take down the decs...

thethoughtfox · 27/03/2021 17:12

We have our tree up. DC said they wanted to keep it up till our family could all be together and we could have Christmas.

Steamfan · 27/03/2021 17:20

Still got my outdoor lights up - had then up most of last year as well! A bit of light in the darkness

We still have our lights up. I don’t care. It’s not something we usually do, buts it’s been a shit 12 months and they make me happy.

TheWaif · 27/03/2021 17:25

Quite a few near me still have outdoor lights up at night.

LoveFall · 27/03/2021 17:32

There have been other holidays/festivals since Christmas. I noticed lots of lights up around Chinese New Year this year, which was nice in these times. The Persian New Year (Nowruz) was on March 20. There was also the Orthodox Christmas on Jan. 7.

Oldraver · 27/03/2021 17:56

My outdoor light are still up though not switched on and there is a wreath on my door

InTheNightWeWillWish · 27/03/2021 17:59

Some people have chosen to keep theirs up so the year feels less shit. If twinkly lights is what is getting people through at the moment, then I don’t see why it would bother you or what effect it has on your life?

Nanalisa60 · 27/03/2021 18:04

I think some people have needed them for a bit of joy!! But I think with the clocks going forward, and it’s really being to feel like spring that may the Christmas/winter lights could come down!! Easter decorations up in my house, and fresh flowers!!

Midlifelady · 27/03/2021 18:06

I love Christmas but even so those decs and lights cime down shortly after the New Year. They become depressing after that.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/03/2021 18:06

Are they definitely Christmas lights?

A neighbour asked dh the other day why we still had our Christmas tree up.
Answer, we don’t. But we still have white lights in a very tall houseplant (more like a tree) in the bay window, near where our Christmas tree was.

I was planning to keep them up until the clocks change, I.e. tomorrow, but they look so nice I might keep them a bit longer anyway. Until Midsummer day, perhaps? But after that the days will be getting shorter again, so....

Cruddles · 27/03/2021 18:12

Just getting in 270 days early

HerRoyalNotness · 27/03/2021 18:13

My dining room is still decorated for Xmas

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 27/03/2021 18:17

Unless you have any reason to believe that they have health issues stopping them removing them, whilst you may think it silly, really nothing to be concerned about, I think.

Mind you, given how late Boris Johnson has been in making any decisions, I am surprised he has celebrated last Christmas.

MsChatterbox · 27/03/2021 18:33

I still have my lights in my kitchen window. I prefer how it lights the room to the main light so they're staying!

Changethetoner · 27/03/2021 18:43

Maybe they're dead. You should peep in the window to check for signs of life.

MadisonAvenue · 27/03/2021 18:48

There’s one on our estate that’s got a Christmas star light on the front of the house, a Spring wreath on the front door and two plastic Halloween pumpkins under the window.

Doyoumindfisithere · 27/03/2021 18:52

Yes two houses near here. It has been a miseable year!

FlatteredFool · 27/03/2021 18:55

A house near us has their tree up. It's not got many decorations but it's a real tree and in the window. I'm just envious theirs has kept its needles all this time.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 27/03/2021 19:29

Had my indoor lights up all year round for about 3 years. Only took them down this year. Meh.Grin
Cherrysoup · 27/03/2021 19:46

We have very deliberately left yellow lights in the bush outside the front door. First it was because it was so dark so early and it was cheery, now we’re just used to it and like it.

GwendolineWindowlene · 27/03/2021 20:14

It doesn’t bother me at all, I was just wondering what the thinking is behind it (I’d be dreading the dusting). It’s a fully decorated beautiful big tree by the window.

I still have snowflake stickers in my windows. It's just laziness really, but also that I'm not sure how I'd store them to use again this Christmas!

Username0981237645 · 27/03/2021 20:17

I have my lights around my stairs still and I've decided they're stopping I love them.

SarahAndQuack · 27/03/2021 21:06

Our neighbours across the street still have two full-size lit up trees, flashing icicles, etc., up outside the house. It's depressing as fuck, TBH.
