I was listening to them earlier on Spotify and decided to google Mark Keds. I'm so shocked and saddened that he passed away back in January. I don't do Facebook etc so it really was a shock to me, I couldn't believe what I was reading. Such a lovely talented man taken too soon.

I tried to post about Mark Keds at the time but mumsnet was playing up. He was only 50 Sad So sad. He had led quite a difficult life but had been settled over the last 7 years

I used to love their music. I was a huge fan. My first concert ever was seeing them at Kingston University in 1993

Thank you for replying! Thought I was going to have to have a conversation with myself! You must be a bit younger than me. I first saw them in 1989 supporting Crazyhead then spent the next few years following them around the country. I have such happy memories of those days.

I wasn't massively into them but used to follow Carter USM so must have seen them support a few times. Also drank with Cass and the dark haired one with glasses (Ben?) as a mutual friend knew them.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 28/03/2021 18:05

I also loved Carter SquatBetty . Saw them loads too but not as many times as Senseless Things. Yeah they were often on the same bill so no doubt you caught them.

I am a member of a Facebook page and the tributes to Mark are very moving. He was obviously well loved and respected. He died of copd which is something found in people much older. Just devestating

Yourownpersonaljesus · 28/03/2021 18:21

Yeah it's so sad. He was so lovely to us back in the day. He always made sure we were on the guest list, had somewhere to stay (sometimes with them) and even offered us lifts in their trusty transit van. He was one of the kindest people I've ever met.

I was really sad to hear the news. I also knew him well back in the late 80s/early 90s. I saw them loads but didn't do the whole travelling thing. @Yourownpersonaljesus I'm guessing you saw MC4 too.
Mark was truly lovely and it's tragic he's gone at such a young age.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 28/03/2021 18:47

Yes SailorGeri The Megas were amazing too. Loved that whole scene. My last memory of Mark was when we shared a very sweaty hug just after Senseless Things came off stage at the Four4Wiz gig in Islington back in 2007. Another wonderful human being taken too soon. I wonder if any of us knew each other back in the day.

@Yourownpersonaljesus we probably did know each other. Or we will have some friends in common. It's a small world isn't it?

It sure is. Never thought there'd be any fans of that type of music on MN but I remember posting about Senseless Things before and had a good few replies. Did you live in London at the time?

OP posts:
SailorGeri · 30/03/2021 14:44

@Yourownpersonaljesus yes. I came to London in 1988 and I'm still here. Back then I used to go to about three gigs a week. Usually STs, MC4, Snuff or Sink.
