Student finance

This isn’t for me but if anyone could help would appreciate it. I’ll use first person to avoid annoying “let’s call him tom” sort of post.

If I did an MSc, self funded, in 2016, would I not be eligible for student finance for a subsequent MSc? Even though I didn’t take a postgrad loan for original course?

Thanks!

You should be eligible as long as you haven't claimed student finance for a course at the same or higher level

I don't think you can take out a master's loan if you already have a master's degree, or equivalent or higher qualification. www.gov.uk/masters-loan/eligibility

My understanding is that that's still the case even if you self funded the first one. I can't find a source for this but I'm sure I've read it somewhere. May be wrong but that's what I've always thought.
