How long is your weekend lie in?

If you have young kids that need supervision, and if you have a partner, how long is your weekend lie in?

Since lockdown, ours have become longer and longer. DM phoned this morning at 9.45am and was shocked that DH was still in bed and that we're "wasting the day". DS is 4 so one of us gets up with him and the other lies in, usually getting up about 10.30am. I don't tend to go back to sleep, I piss about on my phone or read.

We then kick about til lunch and try and be out for the whole afternoon if the weather is fine. To be honest, life is all about wasting the day right now, we've got nowhere to go!

So out of interest, what time do you get up when having a lie in??

I get up before 9am. Mostly at 8am. Dh take it in turns to lie in but at the most it's 10am. Like you pissing about on the phone not sleeping.

MissyB1 · 27/03/2021 22:20

Our ds is 12 and loves to lie in he will sleep until 10am easily.

Unfortunately Dh and I are rubbish at sleep and find it impossible to lie in no matter how tired we are! Anyway the dog comes in our room for cuddles at about 6am. Today we were up at 6.45 and heading out for a long dog walk by 8. I’m knackered 😩
One day I will have a long sleep and lie in - I hope! 🙏

usernotfound0000 · 27/03/2021 22:20

Kids are 2 & 6, would normally be up by 8 on a lie in. They are early risers usually up by 6.

Lazydaisydaydream · 27/03/2021 22:21

I have a 6 month old and a 2 year old. My lie in is until about 8:30/9. The one getting up usually gets up at about 6/6:30 as that’s when the baby wakes up, toddler gets up at 7. When it’s my lie in OH brings the baby up to me when it’s time for his first nap and I feed him to sleep and then carry on dozing for his half hour nap as well so probably not up and downstairs until nearly 10.
When it’s my OHs lie in he gets up at 8:30 at the latest as he hates staying in bed once he’s awake and can’t seem to sleep any later than that.

Lazydaisydaydream · 27/03/2021 22:22

Oh and I dream of the days when I didn’t have kids and my lie ins were way past lunchtime. Can’t even imagine that now Grin

BeesAnkles · 27/03/2021 22:24

I got up at 12pm this afternoon morning while DH was up at 9am with our 18-month-old Blush

He gets up at 10am on his day.

LunaNorth · 27/03/2021 22:24

I got up at 2:45pm today.

Sorry not sorry.

folloyourarro · 27/03/2021 22:26

Thankfully past this stage now (and ironically couldnt sleep in this late these days) but 10am was always the unspoken agreed limit! We would send the kids up if it got to 10 and the other wasn't up yet Grin

Titsywoo · 27/03/2021 22:26

Can't remember how long when the kids were young - unlikely to have been later than 9. Nowadays I get up around 10 on the weekends (kids are teens).

MrsDThomas · 27/03/2021 22:26

I was the one who got up with kids. i love nothing more than being up early. I left DH there till he thought it was time to get up. Never resented it.

Mine are 19/17/13 and i still get up even on my weekends. This morning i was up at 6:10. Can’t stand lying there tossing and turning trying to get back to sleep. I do loads when everyone else sleeps.

Jupiterstar · 27/03/2021 22:27

We do exactly the same as you op! Whilst it’s been winter and lockdown, why not! And our weeks are so busy. Now it’s getting warmer and restrictions easing our weekends will probably get busier so lie ins will get shorter.

17CherryTreeLane · 27/03/2021 22:27

A lie in here is 9am. Reasonable lie in when the kids were small and now, that they're teenagers and we're nearly 50, we can't sleep any longer!

HaNNaHC92 · 27/03/2021 22:28

7.30am is a lie in for us. My two children are 3yrs and then 19m. I'm also expecting baby no.3 in 5 weeks so "lie ins" are going to be even earlier then

idontlikealdi · 27/03/2021 22:28

I get out of bed around 715 to check they're ok, feed and medicate the dog and then head back to bed with coffee. I rarely go back to sleep but I have my coffee in peace / read / watch tv until around 9.

Timeisavirtue · 27/03/2021 22:29

During home learning I didn’t get up till 9 am ( kids didn’t start until 9.45) I was going to bed at 3 am. At the weekends I was getting up at 9.30/10. Dc are 13 & 8 so can fend for themselves till I get up. When they went back to school I set an alarm for the weekend at 9.30 so I don’t sleep in more causing very late nights again. Just got myself back in to routine. Come the 12th I need to be able to get up at 6am to go back to work so....

iluvpickles · 27/03/2021 22:30

Kids age 1 and 3. Youngest woke us today at 8am I got up with her and eldest then woke. I don't think dh got bk to sleep (it's very noisy when they r up) but he didn't get up until I made him to come get bfast about 10.30.

On a Sunday I usually lie in bed till about 10-10.30. I usually get bk to sleep and wake maybe about 9.30-10am and then get up about 10.30. It's usually broken sleep I wake up a few times as the kids are soooo loud!

GeorgeandHarold66 · 27/03/2021 22:31

Ds is 8.5 no partner here but in the last year we've got to the stage where he can get up without waking me immediately. So weekend days typically start between 8-9am these days. Bliss after 7 years of 5-6am starts Grin

Spillanelle · 27/03/2021 22:31

We take it in turns to have a lie in at the weekend, 10am seems to be the agreed limit here. Think it’ll be earlier after lockdown so we don’t ‘waste the day’.

Figgygal · 27/03/2021 22:33

7.30 maybe
Can’t imagine lying in bed for any amount of time these days

TrinityWaves · 27/03/2021 22:37

I got up at 11am this morning, toddler up at 9.30am with DH

TwoZeroTwoZero · 27/03/2021 22:37

13.30 ish sometimes. My dc are 8&9. Dh isn't bothered so I just lie in until I get up.

OrangeBananaFish · 27/03/2021 22:39

7:30 here. It's an hour after week day get up time. Cant lie there much longer, I like to be up and about getting stuff done.
