Chills and mild fever what can I do to feel better?

Had my covid jab Friday and I've now got a mild fever of 38.7 and chills. I can't sleep. I've run a hot bath but apparently this will raise my temperature more.

Is there anything I can do that will actually help within a set time frame? I've got an 8 month old who will probably wake up any minute and I seriously need some sleep, I need to know that what I am doing will help 🥺

Paracetemol and or ibuprofen is what I usually do, one of each.

JamesAnderson · 27/03/2021 01:09

Have you had paracetamol?

I think it's also worth getting a covid test. Not normal for side effects to start this late

@Rtmhwales

Paracetemol and or ibuprofen is what I usually do, one of each.
This plus vitamin C and fluids.

Also a hot water bottle or water dye blankets if you feel shivery.

Thanks all, had paracetamol at 8.30 and the packet says I can take another couple now so I've just done that. Can't find ibuprofen to alternate.

Sorry @JamesAnderson I meant Friday as in the one just past, within the last 24 hours.

@RickiTarr what's a water dye blanket?

I had mine this week with awful side effects about 4 hours after - felt like the worst flu ever. The only thing that worked a bit was paracetamol and lots of fluids, but had to ride it out really. Didn't last much longer than 48 hrs with just some tiredness left now

RickiTarr · 27/03/2021 01:29

That should have been “hot water bottle or extra blanket”.

Sorry not sure what happened.

Hope you feel better soon x
