I'm in an Easy Listening/AOR/MOR mood tonite...

JD - Calypso
ND - tie between The Last Thing On My Mind and I've Been This Way Before
TJ - The Green, Green Grass of Home

I'm also showing my age but I don't mind.

JD - Starwood in Aspen
Glen Campbell - By the time I get to Phoenix
James Taylor - Sweet Baby James. I grew up with this kind of music. Make no apologies for enjoying it.

So many JD songs as I grew up with my dad playing them in the way to school. First concert I went to aged 10 (ish). My particular favourites are Annie's Song, Perhaps Love, Country Roads, Leaving on a Jet Plane and Calypso.

Don't know any Neil Diamond songs and not a fan of Tom Jones.

Derailing to say that I have seen many many bands live from Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Kanye, Oasis to Amy Winehouse .... yet Tom Jones was the greatest live performer for the way he had his audience in the palm of his hand!

LunaNorth · 27/03/2021 22:31

JD - Country Roads
ND - Hello; I Am, I Said; Brooklyn Roads
TJ - not a fan, but Green Green Grass of Home has a place in my heart because my dear Auntie loved it.

If you’re in an Easy Listening mood, try a bit of Don McLean - Winterwood. Gorgeous song.

For John Denver had anyone said Rocky Mountain High? I love that song - he was born in the summer of his 27th year, coming home to a place he'd never been before. Wonderful.

For Neil Diamond - Forever in Blue Jeans.

Tom Jones. Delilah. Dreadful but compelling.

littlemisslozza · 27/03/2021 22:35

@HeadNorth Yes! Brilliant song. As I said, my love of his music comes from my dad playing them but we would often discuss the clever lyrics.

I'm 52 and showing my age by the fact that I'm nodding along to all the Terry Wogan comments. To me it will always be 'The Reverend Blue Jeans' and 'Take Your Teeth Out'.

I like the Beatles too, if that's OK with Oblomov. I can sing along to pretty much everything they've ever made despite the fact that it was almost all made before I was born. The magic of technology eh?

Nd brother loves travelling salvation show

littlemisslozza · 27/03/2021 23:06

Another JD favourite - Poems, Prayers and Promises

shinynewapple21 · 27/03/2021 23:06

TJ - it's not unusual
ND - Sweet Caroline
(Both because they are karaoke type songs everyone can sing along to)
JD - didn't think I really knew any John Denver apart from Annie's song of which I'm not keen but after reading others nominated songs Ive realised I do like some of his songs which I knew as being sung by other artists . Favourite is 'sunshine' which I haven't heard in about a million years !

Dowser · 27/03/2021 23:07

ND ..coming to America
The accompanying music just blows you away

Haven’t seen that many performers live..but he was up there with the best..oh and prodigy

Dowser · 27/03/2021 23:15

JD..country roads..but I do like the Hermes house band singing it as well.

blue1000 · 27/03/2021 23:37
