I'm in an Easy Listening/AOR/MOR mood tonite...

JD - Calypso
ND - tie between The Last Thing On My Mind and I've Been This Way Before
TJ - The Green, Green Grass of Home

I'm also showing my age but I don't mind.

OP posts:

JD - Rocky Mountain Jigh, Leaving on a Jetplan
ND - Cracklin Rosie

Cant stand TJ

Bluebird2021 · 26/03/2021 22:04

oops wrong thread for abba!!

Mykittensmittens · 26/03/2021 22:07

JD - Annie’s song. Reminded me of my long gone DF as he played it. Very emotional. Decided to be brave and have it as our wedding first dance. Took a lot of courage as even the opening notes have me in floods. But it combined him and our wedding and sort of ‘moved it on’ to mean something else.

Until 6 months later when I found out ‘D’H had been cheating on me the whole time.

It’s the one thing I’m really unable to move past - he’d linked something that meant so much for different reasons and I can’t undo it or replace it.

If I even think of it in my head it makes me wobble now and that’s so sad.

itssquidstella · 26/03/2021 22:09

Cracklin' Rosie by Neil Diamond

Mrsorganmorgan · 26/03/2021 22:13

One of my favourite songs - At Last - Etta James

Gilead · 26/03/2021 23:02

JD- Rocky Mountain High
ND- Mr Bojangles.
TJ - Wha’s New Pussycat.

LoveFall · 26/03/2021 23:14

Neil Diamond, it has to be Sweet Caroline for me. So many memories, even one of my lovely Mom (now gone) dancing up a storm at a family wedding. Also memories of cruise holidays playing music trivia and other games. Sweet Caroline will get people from all over the world up and dancing.

Glenn Campbell, Lineman for the County. As a child, my family went camping on weekends right into the Fall. We had a portable record player and I remember that song playing in the deserted campground amongst the trees.

UnitedRoad · 26/03/2021 23:19

Nd love on the rocks and you don’t bring me flowers

Jd Annie’s song

TJ I don’t like him

Pp said Glen Campbell and I completely agree with Wichita lineman

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 27/03/2021 02:44

Country Roads, which I first heard when I lived in West Virginia.

You can't go wrong with Neil Diamond, but I'd have to choose Sweet Caroline for all the times it was played at baseball games just as DS's team was mostly losing but occasionally winning.

Tom Jones... You Can Keep Your Hat On, from The Full Monty.

Can I add some Neil Young? I absolutely love Harvest Moon. There's something about the rhythm of it.

Also The Needle and the Damage Done... and After the Gold Rush... and the whole of Live Rust...

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 27/03/2021 02:45

@Tartyflette

Can i add my absolute favourite singer - Scott Walker? Beautiful man, beautiful voice. And a baritone too. 'No Regrets' sends shivers through me.
Oh yes - me too.
Willowkins · 27/03/2021 02:56

So difficult to choose but:
JD - Sunshine on my shoulder
ND - Amazing grace
TJ - Delilah

Oblomov21 · 27/03/2021 03:44

What age are you all?
Don't like any records by any of those artists. They all seem very old fashioned and old. Mind you ND is 80, so most of his fan base will be elderly.

Oblomov21 · 27/03/2021 03:48

I think I despise all 3 aswell because they were not nice men, all completely unfaithful with constant infidelity. Yuk.

42 Blush We don’t listen to anything written after about 1998.

Agree they were/are all pretty vile men.

Swipeleftagain · 27/03/2021 06:03

Not a Tom Jones fan but Hello Again by Neil Diamond and Annie’s Song by John Denver are 2 out of my top 3 favourite songs ever.

LionLily · 27/03/2021 06:05

Annie's Song
Forever in Blue Jeans
Delilah (esp after a glass or two)

Gingernaut · 27/03/2021 06:19

Neil Diamond - Oh Mary, What's it Gonna Be or Soolaimon

John Denver- Sunshine on my Shoulders

Tom Jones - love his collaboration with Jools Holland - St James Infirmary Blues, Baptism by Fire, Glory of Love all stand out for me

Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam - On Road to Find Out, Where do the Children Play or Trouble

Simon & Garfunkel - almost anything by them Silent Night/7 o'clock news breaks your heart

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/03/2021 07:45

Bare Naked Ladies and Tom Jones Little Green Bag

and if we're throwing Cat Stevens into the mix Father and Son

Clawdy · 27/03/2021 08:10

Always annoying when people start wittering about them not being nice, it's about the songs. Don't bother coming on the thread if you don't like the singers.
JD : Leaving On A Jetplane.
ND : Sweet Caroline.
TJ : I'll Never Fall In Love Again.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 27/03/2021 08:15

Neil Diamond’s Pretty Amazing Grace is one of my favourite songs ever.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 27/03/2021 08:16

Disappointed no one’s nominated Sex Bomb for TJ yet Grin

Aposterhasnoname · 27/03/2021 08:16

@IAcceptCookies

JD - Country Roads ND - Reverend Blue Jeans 🙂 TJ - Mama Told Me Not To Come
Grin

I think you mean forever in blue jeans @IAcceptCookies

To be fair, I used to think that’s what it was called too.

IAcceptCookies · 27/03/2021 08:44

@Aposterhasnoname

Nope, definitely Reverend Blue Jeans, about a younger, trendy laid back vicar!
Wink

PissTestRightNowDaniella · 27/03/2021 08:53

ND: either Love On The Rocks or I am, I said.

Don't really have the love for the other two

AliceBlueGown · 27/03/2021 08:58

Sweet Caroline - reminds me of my Mum singing along to the radio when I was small so has to be my favourite.
