Waiting for a takeaway... how long is acceptable?

Firstly I know this is first world problems!

I pre-arranged a local takeaway- first time with this service. It's a home run, authentic SE Asian food delivery- no restaurant. Order was meant to arrive 7ish. Phoned at 7:45, owner was a bit blasé and said 'oh has my mum not rung you? She's running late, one of those nights you know blah blah but she left 20mins ago and will be with you shortly'.

Still no food! When do I give in and eat toast?

1 hour from ordering is the norm for us. If it was supposed to arrive 7pm and you're posting at 8.20pm that's pretty late - it must be cold by now!

mommybear1 · 26/03/2021 20:32

Yep I'd say 1 hour tops and that's if they are very busy and have told me this is the wait time.

MimiSunshine · 26/03/2021 20:38

Pre-ordered for 7ish? Then 19:15 latest. 19:45 was taking the piss, 20:20 i wouldn’t be paying for it

HollowTalk · 26/03/2021 20:39

I wouldn't pay for that either.

Ring them up & tell them that you no longer want it. It's 1hr20 late AND it's now been sitting in the car for 30 minutes, no thanks

SpiderinaWingMirror · 26/03/2021 20:55

If its pre ordered for 7.00 it should be there within 15 mins.
Round here we have to pre order before 4 really. If you try after 6 ish it's at least 90 mins.

DH is currently rowing with Pizza Hut as we speak. Over an hour late 🤬
