Is Viagogo a legit site?

Help, I’ve just bought 3 tickets for DD and friends through Viagogo for Wireless festival in Sept. I was so chuffed to see them available as they are sold out on Ticketmaster so I rushed into completing the purchase (paid via PayPal with credit card). I’ve now been looking at the reviews and there are lots of negative ones saying it’s not legit etc. I’m worried, can anyone reassure me?

I’ve used it several times to arrange day trips and outings on holidays, never had any problems. It is a broker, though, not an operator- it’s basically just advertising and managing payments that go to smaller companies, so you need to check individual reviews carefully.

They're an agent arent they, so if it was a deal too good to be true it could well be. Is Wireless sold out everywhere else?

Oops, I’m going to correct that, sorry. I was thinking of Viator. I’ve only used viagogo once, when I paid well over the odds for tickets that were later cancelled due to covid and it took months for the refund to be sorted. So I wouldn’t use them again and you’re right to be cautious. Sorry for the confusion.

Charges over the odds for tickets and fees, I got ripped off a few years ago, my fault for not looking at the VERY VERY small print. Just Google them and you will see,,loads or articles about them.

I was always intrigued about Viagogo. I used them in 2013 to buy Beyoncé tickets. Like you, I looked at the reviews after I bought the tickets and a lot of them were awful. I spent months worrying that the tickets would be fake and I had paid quite a lot over the original price they were on Ticketmaster. The tickets arrived 2 weeks before the show and when I got there it was absolutely fine- they were legit. Other than paying too much for them I couldn’t really complain. My mum then used viagogo a few years later (2016 I think) to buy tickets for Coldplay and they were absolutely fine and legit- came in time and I actually don’t think she paid much more than they would’ve been on Ticketmaster. I hope it’s all ok for you

I’ve used them before and they’re fine, overinflated as others have said but the gig was sold out so I was willing to pay. I think they’ve come under flack for selling tickets to concerts that you have to show ID that matches the name on the tickets (to stop touts buying them then selling them for overinflated prices like on viagogo...) that would be unusable for the person buying them because their name doesn’t match! But the time I used them they were fine, no issue

I've used them to sell unwanted concert tickets before and have had no issues.

Thanks everyone. I think I will re-sell the tickets I’ve bought. If they were for me I’d risk it but I can’t risk sending DD and her friends to the festival in case they get turned away 🙁
