So this was a small study and only in the first half of last year but still worrying. I know I should get off my sofa and go for a walk but the weather!

It’s so awful isn’t it! I realise how active I was just running about my daily life, not even including specific gym time.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/03/2021 14:15

I didn’t go to the gym but I was more active. Now I’m sedentary and a year older, it’s getting so much more difficult to get rid of the extra pounds.

The weather's no excuse. I live in a relatively cold and wet part of the country and the weather over the past year has probably been better than average. Fine for going out for a walk or a run 90% of the time. I've walked 4-5 miles most days.

colouringindoors · 26/03/2021 14:30

Sounds about right. I've put on over a stone annoyingly...

Titsywoo · 26/03/2021 14:33

I've put on a stone so yeah about 1.1lbs a month for me (most of that went on in the first lockdown). DH put on more I think. Kids lost weight for some reason!

wendz86 · 26/03/2021 14:48

I put on a stone last year. Not walking to the office etc and eating my feelings didn't help. I have lost it all since Jan though.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/03/2021 16:49

@wendz86 well done. How did you do it?

Just been calorie counting and doing 2 zoom classes with my gym a week and also trying to get out at least once a day for a walk.

canyon2000 · 26/03/2021 17:19

I've bucked the trend and lost weight! I have been much more active and have been eating better as not eating out and meal planning have meant I am eating healthier food.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/03/2021 17:21

Sounds about right. It's a layer of subcutaneous Hobnob, in my case.

ThatPoster · 26/03/2021 17:22

I did put on weight in the first lockdown, but realised in the summer and Took Measures. Basically stopped eating cake every day and drinking every night and upped the exercise. Am around the same weight now as I was at the start of lockdown. Possibly a few pounds lighter.

Love the replies 😀

Well done if you’ve improved your lifestyle. I do some weights but hate any jumping around.

I put on at least a stone from March - Christmas. I was already fat, so really didn't need the extra. I've lost 2.5 stone since January, by cutting out the massive amount of junk I'd been mindlessly eating for the previous 9 months.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/03/2021 17:26

I stopped all alcohol three months ago, hoping to kick start my weight loss again but i must be replacing the calories with something else as I’m not too successful.

At a population level this will have a massive impact and I think it’s one of the top lifestyle things we need to address.

I've gone from 9st 6 to 10st 13 - so sadly about right for me. Now finally started to take action and back down to 10st 2, but still some way to go.

WannabeOT · 26/03/2021 17:58

I've lost about 7kg since start of November lockdown. I think lack of gym helped as I had to properly look at calories and not think 'oh I've been to the gym' and eat my calories back. Been back in the office since start of march and people bring in cake nearly every fucking day, so I think the working from home helped as I could plan my meals and only ate what I had in rather than constant temptation that I often give in to by mid-morning.

octopus5691 · 26/03/2021 18:01

Hi everyone
How is lockdown feeling now the clocks are due to go forward on Sunday

mamaduckbone · 26/03/2021 18:28

I've put on a few pounds but I'm fitter so my body shape has changed. I do Pilates every morning and run 3 times a week, which was easy in lockdown but not so much so now I'm back at work.
I'd like to lose a bit but honestly, food has been the only fun for months and months so I can't deprive myself too much.
