My binge eating is out of control

I’ve eaten countless Easter eggs since the shops started selling them. I keep eating the ones I buy for my DC and then re-buying, but then I feel weak again and eat the replacements. I feel so disgusted with myself but not enough to stop me from eating 😢

Has anyone here overcome binge eating and have any tips to share?

I've gone low carb. It sort of switches off the hunger, I think it is related to a hormone called ghrelin.

Can you buy yourself some too? Binge restrict cycle isn't good but if you have your own available to eat then there's no restricting and you can enjoy the eggs

I’m like this with hot cross buns - I can easily eat a packet of 4 in a day. I’m trying not to have them in the house. I deliberately go out without my wallet and try not to add them to the basket when I online shop ( except the buggers know me too well and always suggest them as an extra at check out Hmm). Ester egg chocolate is really hard to resist esp with a cup of tea. Could you give your kids little gifts instead for Easter so as it’s not in the house? Another tip if to brush your teeth or eat gum when you get a craving as it makes the chocolate taste bad.

I’m the same with hot cross buns. I didn’t add any to my online shop but couldn’t resist some when I went into Lidl 😳

What happens in the moments between you thinking "I want to eat an Easter Egg" and you eating it? Is there anything you could do in that time to distract yourself and break the impulse?

breakingupslowly · 26/03/2021 13:32

The worst thing is that I still can’t taste or smell after having covid last year, so it’s not like I even get the enjoyment from it! This is what shows me it truly is an addiction rather than just wanting to enjoy chocolate. It’s more of a compulsion.

I’ve tried distracting myself by brushing teeth, having a bath, etc. But I can’t resist it for long! I want Easter to come and go so that there’s no chocolate lingering around the house

I am going through a very tough place atm with what I've recently realised is Binge Eating Disorder. I've nearly started a thread on here several times to find a buddy but chickened out. However I am taking the decision to own it now, and not be ashamed, and to comment on here. I am currently reading a really good book called I Can't Stop Eating, how to break the cycle of binging by Sarah Disanjh. I'm finding a lot of truth and help in it.
